You guys on Flex, if you have to pass an OBDII emission test are you doing that with your flex fuel tune in the car? OBDII emission test is just the plug up scan type test looking for readiness of monitors. I think I can have one not set.

We had a vote here back in 2018 to eliminate emissions testing and it passed by a HUGE margin. However here we are 3 years later and here I am having to go through emissions again this year. Seems the state has submitted the paperwork to the EPA a year ago and are waiting on final approval.

With swapping tunes around it resets all the emission readiness monitors, so when I got my notice I stopped playing around with tunes and have just been driving the car to get the monitors set. I've probably got 200 miles on the car now, and I've tried all the drive cycle tricks, and HPTuners is still showing 3 monitors not set. Fuel System, Catalyst, and Evaporative System.

Last year I was on my 93 tune and passed no problem, after the drive cycle trick and I haven't tried it on the flex tune so curious what you guys are doing.

I was able to have all my monitors set ready for my inspection last year on a flex fuel tune I was on at the same time.

Thanks @zhc that tells me that it is possible. I've only turned off three codes in the car P0128 for the 185 thermostat which is also turned off in my 93 tune so that's not it. P0133 and P0153 which were for codes I kept throwing for the O2 sensors being slower to respond on E85 presumably due to the cooling effect but not sure. Maybe those two are tripping something, or I've just not hit that magic drive cycle yet.

I failed when I went to test early on in COVID world. Then towards the end of the year I think Illinois was like fuck we need revenue and just told people they don’t need to go in for testing, so I renewed without passing 🤣🤣 Problem solved....for now.

Interested in how to overcome. Initially thought about returning to stock tune, but never got that far. Worst comes to worst I will register the car as a “recreational vehicle” and avoid emissions all together.

Ok so one passed and one not. Good to know.

I'm hoping this is my last year. Loading the 93 tune to pass isn't a huge deal but...
