We met the one time and I mentioned the front sway bar was out. I always mention everything down to the Metco breather.
I can sleep at night.😉
I used to share everything but I was being called cheater at Atco because I ran ET/mph on a combo that no one was doing it. But everyone forgot that I never ran less than 2400 DA and without seats either.

oh well, I might start sharing again but it’s never going to be open book.

Locked / untuned ecu . No power added to the engine .
No engine or trans tuning .

That is stock to me

That’s a reasonable definition.

I generally agree with this, but I have a question...

If a M6 driver were to change out the OE 3.70s for the 3.90s, do they still fall inside of this definition?

No power, no tuning.

Just pushing rpm around...

This question of stock will never be answered to the satisfaction of everyone. It's a futile argument.

I'm not as extreme as most in defining stock, and at great risk of a beating by the "stock police", I would consider that stock only if that were a factory option with the M6. Once you start changing gear ratios or wheel/brake assembly conversions, it can be a slippery slope. Example being, the 4280 lb. weight some are using for the Demon record. Is putting a light-weight battery, draining fluids, removing anything else to get to the assumed Leah Pritchett 4280 weight still "stock". For some, the stock limits might be a battery change, but for others that's a no-no. I know wheel and tire changes could in some ways be viewed as changing gear ratios, but it's not cracking into the factory equipment.

My personal opinion allows wheel and tire changes only to still remain "stock". Factory stock would be defined as supplied by the manufacturer, i.e. stock wheels and tires.

I still like the idea of:

Factory Stock (As delivered)
Stock - to be used correctly in context, and among friends, following the "Rules of the day", violate the spirit of this and you become "one of those people".
Mod - As we've already discussed, this has so many versions, it's not a debatable thing, you're either modified, or not.

Love the "super tuning" of stock cars being discussed in the first 20 mins of this video.

Also, the highlighting the value of the driver mod.

Just think....in 1988 or so....you could walk out of the Ford dealer with w 5.0 LX Mustang for just a shade over $10k. That was good, cheap performance back then. The LX looked better too, IMO, than the GT with all of those ground effects on it.

Only relevant in the price comparison aspect of this comment, but my step-father paid $3200 for a new 1973 Plymouth Roadrunner fully optioned with the 400.

Drives my nuts when I think about that, that's 1/3 to 1/6 of what I typically put down on a car for a down-payment.

Your dealership is part of the equation, and if they did their PDI correctly, you wouldn't have them in the first place.

(This coming from someone that ran with mine for a year or so...)

That was a pretty good price. My parents paid around that for their '70 Road Runner. That car didn't have a/c and man those vinyl seats were hot in the summer.

Well darn, I told the dealership to not touch a thing - that I’d remove the splitter guard, install the air deflectors, etc. having restored a couple old Mopars I know how hard it is to find those “day one” parts. I’m betting those items will be forgiven if I ever show up for pure stock drags.

Lots of factors to the equation. Cost of living, cost of Bud beer went from $1.86 to $6.50, union wages did not go down, raw materials that this country sold China sold em back to us, supply and damn demand. Being a product of sum time,, I watched this era in the makings and the oil industry had a lot to do with the taxes of the 70's and just did 1.5 years ago with this damn gas consumption tax hit us. Some how or another the government has had their sticky fingers in it any way you go. Is it all comparable or look at the C8 and the GT500 costings. I am impressed with GM's staying in the game. Costings and stylings.
