It's not the stripes, it's a painted code that identifies the tread during production, something like E275GB. The code varies by maker, but all use similar identifiers. Usually about 2 " tall sprayed letter/numbers.

Likely just tire paint markings, all have them from factory, like spray paint. They makeup a code the factory uses for tracking components during assembly. It has likely worn off the part that contacts the road surface, leaving only the markings in the groove, which will appear odd by themselves.

So what happens now when the Uconnect malfunctions? Is this a feature that only happens at start or is this something that can happen when driving down the road and the Uconnect software crashes?

On a side note...when my uconnect malfunctioned, the dealer pulled a fuse in the trunk. That completely disables the ability to track the car through the uconnect...kinds defeats the purpose on paying for the tracking service when its so easy to defeat.

Its brand new in box so all hardware should be there. I only opened the box to take a picture for you. I bought it for my 2018 and never installed it. You should be able to check fitment online using the part number.
