Now I’ve been jollying about in my TRX it’s made me realise how I really don’t like the interior in the Challenger. It’s just a wash of crappy plastic wherever you look.

I’d already been thinking about wrapping the centre console and binnacle to get rid of the “engine turned plastic”. But today I sat in it and thought how bad the door cards and dash are. It’s neither a stripped out racer nor even a mid priced sedan interior.

I don’t know. Rip loads out and plate it (most likely not so easy) plus add a roll cage? Reshape, change speakers and wrap the door cards and dash with leather/alcantara?

Suggestions please.

Find a custom interior shop and talk to them. They'll give you many options.

I do like my Charger interior better.
Chargers always had the nicest interior of the Mopar muscle cars back in the day. They were more expensive with more standard features…just like they are today.

Can’t help you but when did they go from being called door panels to door cards? I don’t care much for door cards…

Do you have the cloth interior?

I have seen a friend's '20 model and the leather lined dash that became an option sure does look better. You have to remember these are $40k cars with $40k motors/drivelines.

I have to agree, the interior is a ocean of uninteresting plastic.

I do recall seeing a few who had the dash covered in suede & it looked pretty good, not a project I'd tackle myself tho. Leather with some stitching that matches the seats would also be sweet IMO.

For the doors, I've always wanted to do something with the insert pieces to break them up a bit. Maybe even perforated leather (like the seats), you could get a contrasting color or make them 2 tone with stitching ??

Personally, I'm quite happy with my Challenger interior.

Just an opinion though.

The interior of the DSRT, with the upgraded dash wrap is nice as well.

Yeah I agree, I've been in lots of cars, nothing about the Challenger's interior bothers me or is uncomfortable. Plastic stuff is everywhere on new cars now.

19 with an alcantara package, was a built car and can’t remember what was available had I chosen.

Thanks for the thoughts and suggestions.

I drove round all afternoon trying to find an exhaust shop to straight pipe the TRX a few weeks ago, first one seemed to be in the middle of an overnight truck stop and I didn’t even drive in there, the next had a sign outside “performance exhaust systems” and when I enquired he just said “nope” several times like it was the only word he could say, the last one was a one man band and the unit next door hadn’t seen him for a few days and he didn’t phone me back. Most exhaust shops here just bolt on new pattern sections and don’t weld and I’ve known people have failed cats after they’ve hammered them to hell for no reason.

God help me trying to find an upholsterer. I’ll give it some thought, I’ve an industrial sewing machine with walking foot but skiving leather might be a bit problematic. I’m inclined to have a practice on the door cards on my camper before moving onto the Hellcat. Maybe initially make a dash mat before launching into removing the dashboard. I don’t want to do anything too jazzy.

Maybe it’s a UK thing or just something I call them, their base is pretty much cardboard 😬

The Plus group is a huge upgrade over the standard interior.

Last time I was this disappointed in anything, I divorced it.

To be fair I don’t notice it during general use, just when sat in it parked up.
