Love your videos and approach to doing things the right way.
Curious as to a ball park what something like that would cost so others could save up for a "just in case" event.. I mean like the 10-20k range or more.

I enjoy your videos. I gotta say that was a neat trick using the shop vac to remove the #7 piston. One I hope I never have to use though!

It was pretty cheap considering. Definitely no where near $20K, not even $10K. You can go out to www.eastcoastmoparts.com site and look up the motor to see what they sell for. I'm not sure if the price changes very often, but less than $10K for the complete long block that was a direct drop in.

Nice video Speedy. I find the content about the Redeye vs Hellcat helpful - hopefully I never need it, but still good to know.
Thanks

How does the SC (existing) match with the Redeye cam - sounds like your pully swap was on par with the stock Redeye SC? Was the Redeye cam in the long block the only major difference when compared to the Hellcat long block? No other major part differences - say like the cylinder heads ?

Visually they look the same other than color. The heads have what Mopar called "high speed valve train" whatever that means, then the oil upgrades, stronger parts supposedly like pistons and rods, etc.

My Hellcat blower bolted right on and with the 2.72 pulley makes about 16.5 psi of boost, so just a tick more than the Demon/RE 2.7L blower at 14.5.

Another great video Speedy. With the knock sensors. Is it just the plug that is different. The knock sensor itself is definitely identical

Good info. Thanks. Great place to live. Grew up in Chattanooga and Ardmore. More info like this is helpful.

After I asked the question I noticed your thread on the motor decision and changes (redeye/demon vs Hellcat) - one thing I thought was interesting was the oil squirters on the bottom of the piston larger jets? Makes me wonder about the oiling on the upper RPM limits - what does that do for durability and does that affect the RPM range (redeye/demon shift points are higher?).
Thanks again Speedy - very good information !

Currently, all the online parts catalogs conveniently leave out the redeye engine when looking for it by year/make/model.

But if you know the part number, you can get the listing, it's there by itself: 68436298AA (Pulled it from the closeup in your previous video [biggrin])

Yep, just the shape of the plug.
