Has anyone tried narrower snow tires?

I recently bought two 2021 Trackhawks. My wife had a 2015 Jeep SRT prior to this and I had a second set of OEM 10” x 20” wheels with 295/45-20 Pirelli snow tires on them. I still have those and have picked up another set of OEM wheels so each Trackhawk can have a set of snows. Has anyone tried mounting a 275/50-20 on the 10” wide OEM wheels? It looks like the recommended wheel width for the 275 size is 8.5”-9.5”. Anyone have any experience with this particular combination? There are MANY more snow tire options in the 275 size.

Oh NO! Not that guy!

I have a set of Michelins, 285/45s as I recall, not dedicated winter tires but bought to be better for winter use. Ended up selling the 'Hawk with the OE tires soon afterwards, so not many miles on them if you're interested.

Also have a set of stock size DWS06s with very few miles on them, on aftermarket wheels. Removed because of selling that 'Hawk, too.

Thank you for reaching out to me regarding these tires. Since you’re way out West and I’m in NYS, shipping would probably be ridiculous.
How did the 285/45 size fit? We’re you able to see a distinguishable difference in size from a 295? I’ve thought about using a 285/50-20 snow tire. I believe it would be .7 inches taller.

Without reading the sidewall, there really wasn't a visual difference. I don't remember how much the revs per mile were off, but it was probably in the 1-2% range.

Handling improved, not just because of the slightly narrower tire, but from losing a lot of unsprung weight.
I can go check which Michelin it is, if you want.

When I have done it in the past I just try to keep the height close. Your 275/40 turns into a 245/45 for instance. Height and your width of the wheel

On my Evo I had I went one size taller
