Good info guys. The P365XL is nearly the same size and weight of my XDM, so not much to gain there. What I find is due to the weight I'm more likely to leave it in my glove box that on my person, so I was looking for something smaller and lighter than the XDM. I LOVE the XDM, so much in fact I bought two of them one 9mm and one .40cal. Blackhawk holster is great for open carry, but I feel that makes you a target and perfer concealed. So far the Aliengear owb has been working great, but I still find it pulling my pants down more than I'd like so the search started for a lighter weight weapon.
Sig usually gets good reviews, but you do read about them having problems, and not just the P365. I personally have a Sig pistol that had a return spring on the trigger break off. They sent me a new one and I repaired the gun, but that was my first Sig and it kinda left a bad taste. I've never had issues with SA weapons and they recently took care of me when I had an issue with a little project I was working on, pretty much no questions asked.
I agree holding each, better yet firing them, is the recommended approach and will try to find them in stock. I may find the 7 or so oz difference in weight un-noticeable and not worth the change.
Things I've loved about the XDM 3.8 I have
- Small but big enough in hand to get a good grip (I'm not a huge guy though)
- Tactile and visual indicators for round in chamber as well as firing pin cocked ready to go
- Back strap secondary safety
The only thing I don't like is the weight, but it's front heavy which helps when firing to stay on target.
@MikeD1 - low and left can be recoil anticipation, but also grip or finger placement on trigger.
