I have not, I didn't even know there was an option.

Linkage or info?

I’ve heard they don’t make much difference over stock. Would be interested in seeing some dyno comparisons though.

FWIW, I went with Sultan of Spark a few years back when I had the 4.2KB setup. I was having spark blowout even with a very tight plug gap. Did the swap and after a few test hits on the dyno, I could adjust the gap considerably larger, thus gained power, but really only the power that I was losing with blow out and tight gap. Nothing over that, from my findings. And better MPG, not that people really care about MPGs on high power cars. lol

I went with the Granetelli 80k volt, and they worked well. I dynoed with other mods, but it would not be an Apple-to-apples comparison.

I put MSD Street Fire coil packs on my Ram when I rebuilt the top end in July. I was at 187,500 miles and figured it could use them but other than run a little smoother I don't think it gives you much extra HP

i never ran anything buy stock never had an issue. if yours is tune you could always go into the tune and raise the desired output voltage of the alternator and get a little extra spark :)

While I like of the look of some aftermarket coils, keep in mind the 1500hp, 9500+ rpm FSS and FX race cars use stock coils (at least Geoff Turk's cars do) and the FX runs 6's at 200+. Just sayin'

Everybody I’ve talked to has said that there is no reason to replace good stock coils with anything else. I sold mine with a set of valve covers because I wanted to go with the big fat Holley EFI “Smart” coils. They have tuning capabilities that regular coils don’t have, so I was thinking that would come in handy way off in the real fast future. They turned out to be 100%… unreliable. Went through two sets (pretty much wasted my time in Houston last year) and sent them back to Holley. So then… I didn’t have any coils and had to buy some. The MSD’s weren’t any more expensive than the factory stuff. They had proven to be reliable on other cars and most importantly…. They were RED. FB2512F2-E551-4A31-B329-0E6D2CAEEC99.jpeg

They’re junk, they can’t handle the heat. Stay with stock

If you need coil packs or plug wires. Rick over at Firecore is excellent to work with. He loves helping owners build and customize their cars.

Kevin H. sent us to Firecore and he uses them as well in Grumpcat.
