I know this is going to sound strange to many but .................................

I don't really use my cell all that much & especially not in the car.
For me, that charging pad is worse than useless since your not suppose to put anything like your FOB or wallet with CC's even near it

I'd like to reclaim that turf and use it for general storage. I've seen a few threads where others actually replaced that whole bin with one from Dodge that didn't have the charging feature (and gained some depth). Parts are not all that expensive, but you have to remove the entire center console to do it. Ditto to just disconnect the plug to the tray (buried underneath the device itself).

Don't want to rip into my new DDSRT & the extra depth is not all that important, so wondering it there was some other way to defeat the damn charger pad ??
Thinking something passive like setting/gluing part of a Faraday bag on it or even a piece of plastic with foil or ???? Will that create enough of a 'shield' that the thing will not try to turn on & charge a FOB left on there or damage it somehow with whatever magic they are using to 'detect' the presence of a phone?

Interesting...

I have plenty of those charging pads around the house that I use all of the time and I've never paid attention to what I put near them, certainly my wallet and keys/fob.

I guess I don't place those items directly on top of the charging pads either, but certainly near them.

Was this a warning sticker or maybe something in the manual?

Owners manual says keep that stuff 6" away from the pad.
That means you can even use the little bin next to it or the cupholders (at least the forward most one).

I suspect that's a bit over cautious on their part, but I'll let you test your wallet first...! ; )

Sure, just send me all your CC's and I'll test them in my wallet - hell I'll even send them back via FedEx ;););) :ROFLMAO:

I never paid any attention to the 1 in the Charger. I put stuff in the console all the time.

It is easy to take the console apart. You can Google it and find it on YouTube. I know you have a Durango but I did it in my Charger to install hot and cold cup holders and it was pretty simple once you see the video.

I have not complied.:p Keys, fob, phone, glasses all have seen the little bin. It can’t be prohibited to lay non-metallic items on top of it.

How are the hot and cold cup holders working out? I was considering this mod.
