Yeah, the manual does give you time to smell the roses, doesn't it? Not only slower, but not even available with 797 hp.
Then again, that stick shift does gives you something to do while putsing along in the slow lane, right?

I guess so?

I just land-shark using all the sweet rural roads South of the city/river...

You'd have to be a complete dummy to take the one highway during peak hours... but, then again that's the kind of people who typically buy automatics.

Yeah, well, I only have one road to pick from here by the house. And during peak hours (which is summer, tourist season), there are times when I have to wait at the stop sign for a vehicle to go by.

And the automatic is still quicker.

I had to have an M6 since my other muscle car has an A727.

That sounds horrible. LOL.

It may be quicker (in the right hands)... but, that doesn't make it better:

I bet getting that automatic out of park with a dead battery or fragged internals is a real treat...

I dunno. But if it does happen, I'll pluck it out of the garage with the crane. That's easy enough.

And by the way, when I feel the urge to not accelerate or drive fast, I take the Peterbilt instead.
Its 18-speed satisfies my need for rowing gears.

You, Sir - are a total stud. My uncle drove truck, and I was always in awe when he came by with his rig.

They are fun to drive, for sure. But not quite in the same way as a Challenger.

After the last job of 11yrs of doing city deliveries in Montreal, I'm good with having an A8.
From '83 to 2007, most of it city work, I have shifted enough for a few lifetimes. LOL

I used to love a manual but the A8 is so awesome, I don’t miss the clutch one bit. My 69 fastback Cuda still has the A833...but I don’t drive it much. A70C4E65-6AA0-4EF7-8D50-B6889760DC8F.jpeg

An 18 is easy compared to two sticks . LOL !! .I learned on a 1956 Mack B 61 tri plex . it’s a lot of stick work . feels like you’re shifting every 5 feet.. because you are !.... all in good fun.

I admire those of you who can handle a Brownie box.
I'd like to try some time...as long as it isn't my vehicle.

A Brownie is better ‘remembered’ than actually operated..

Mine’s not a dd so when I do take it out I can’t begin to explain the joy and appreciation I have for the m6. Banging through the gears with the LMI sound is so therapeutic to me. Plus I haven’t had a manual since I was a kid so there’s also that nostalgia factor. I’m thinking these won’t be around for long so I’m holding on to mine.

To be honest, I can go either way on this. I've owned many manual cars & trucks, some decent, some not so much. For me it's having both, the best of both worlds. My automatic SC HC Charger & my manual NA GT350. Auto C5 and now SRTD too.

Does it sadden me that the new C8 and GT500 will not be manual? Sure.

Maybe.. pretty sure it was wore out twice by the time I got to it ! Hot as hell in summer and blanket on your legs in winter..I will never forget the smell of that 56 . Not bad but not good either. R model.. 237 and a 5 speed . dont downshift until just before the crank breaks in half.
