I said the same thing when Fiat bought Chrysler, but SRT is alive and well.

Actually I think Fiat buying Chrysler was the best thing ever. Demons, Hellcats, Redeyes....the Italians said build what you want just make it the fastest. That would have never happened before.

Those cars were already in the pipeline, it is basically Mercedes Benz technology (supercharger, A8 and LX platform) in our cars that came when Mercedes owned Chrysler. My concern was that Fiat would kill the LX platform and Gen III hemi in the cars, which did not happen.

The upcoming UAW negotiations are not going to be good for FCA. I don’t see anything happening until those negotiations are settled.

So they merge. Does anything change?

Hopefully not other than some economies of scale advantages.

For what it is worth modern Peugeot cars seem to have above average reliability. Also, lets not forget headlines like this...
FCA must pay almost $80M for missing federal fuel economy standards in '17

Well I hope this works out well - I like the Fiat relationship much better than the Daimler "merger".
For those reasons I am a little concerned, but I am hopeful this is a 50/50 partnership and not "merger" of equals (if I remember correctly how it was pitched with Daimler).

Oui Oui... French for Yes Yes... this is actually happening... if approved by French government. :cautious::cautious::cautious:

OUI OUI.gif

Fiat Chrysler and Peugeot owner PSA have officially agreed to join forces through a 50-50 share swap, creating the world's fourth-largest automaker. "In a rapidly changing environment, with new challenges in connected, electrified, shared and autonomous mobility, the combined entity would leverage its strong global R&D footprint and ecosystem," the companies said in a statement. The deal calls for paying a special dividend of €5.5B to Fiat (NYSE:FCAU) investors and for PSA (OTCPK:pEUGF) to spin off to its shareholders a €3B stake in parts maker Faurecia (OTCPK:FURCF). It's also likely to be approved by the French government, which shot down a merger with PSA's French rival Renault (OTCPK:RNLSY) just five months ago.

Meanwhile back on the GM picket line... UAW strikers have gone whackers....:LOL::LOL:

Haven't replaced my Magnum as there is no worthy wagon contender for it (no way CUV or SUV for me!) and sometimes just need the utility that the Charger can't handle.

unless ...

This is a push to get in bed with a company much closer to electrification than FCA was/is...

This is not good news for superchargers, hellcats and powerful V8s.

Doesn't help that it's not 2008 anymore, either...

Get your new supercharged ICE while u can!
