Could be fun in a relatively inexpensive 3,500 lb vehicle.
It's a $2K option in the Grand Wagoner.

I had a 2020 Raptor for one year with the Ford EcoPoop V6. The truck had plenty of power (450 HP/ 510TQ), and it got pretty good fuel economy (north of 17mpg on the highway). Why did I get rid of it? Because it had no soul. As beautiful and as comfortable as the truck was, there was never a connection. I need to have a connection to my vehicle. I'm sure this V6 will be a great motor, but it will never have the soul of a V8.

I didn’t think it was out yet?
It's not, but it's been in production since November so it'll be available soon. The Grand Wagoneer build and price site was accidentally updated with the $2k 'engine upgrade' last night for a couple hours (and then removed). It'll be officially official at the NY auto show in a couple weeks. No idea when it'll actually be available to order.

Not in relation to a Hellcat or even Scat Pack, but I don't see a problem with it if it offers the same/better power than the comparable 5.7/6.4, with less weight, and better fuel economy in other other high volume applications. The vast majority of customers couldn't even tell you what kind of engine is in the vehicle anyway. The big question will be reliability relative to the old V8s. The $2k price tag will come down over time. The ET Hemi in the new Ram and GME-T4 in the Cherokee/Wrangler were $2k+ options at first too. Consider it an early adopter fee.

I wonder how easy it would be to swap this with the 3.6 in my Wrangler? Could be a lot less expensive and more practical than a 6.2/6.4 swap.

Like I said if they put this in something sportyish I'll buy it for a daily. Curious how they plan on handling 87 or 93. Fords knock sensors can add timing. Maybe Dodge will do the same

Lots of folks have theirs sitting in the shop with turbo issues without any improved parts available. Plus it seems gas mileage is just barely better than the I Force 5.7 V8's they replaced. You place these small displacement 6 cylinders in heavier vehicles and expect decent gas mileage...think again.

I will admit though, 500 hp out of a 3.0 liter engine is pretty impressive. But OTOH, I don't see these twin turbo 6's going over 100K miles trouble free like a lot of V8's do.....but we'll see....

Turbos needing rebuilt every 30k trying to keep up with new emission laws. They’ll wear down and destroy themselves quickly. That 100k warranty will be used at least once for the turbos, for sure. And more than likely at least once for intake issues. Calling it now. In-line sixes are great until you throw boost. Hopefully they’ll remember the issues they had with the 4.0L, and plan for them.

Agreed. I'll be curious to see what the EPA ratings end up being and then what people get in the real world. My ET Hemi didn't get any better mileage than a standard Hemi in my experience (and a lot of other's), but Fuely.com does show a small but measurable difference in the averages between the two.
