I don't see the problem. I am pretty sure this is how my guts also look on the inside with my daily Mc Donald's diet. I'm not dead yet....

That looks like Seventies Pennzoil after 840 miles.

Hmm, that's only 460 miles per day in six months...maybe I should start adhering to the 6-month rule?

Hey now, there's no call for personal attacks. Actually, that SOB gets nothing but Redline. I put the recommended Pennz in the HC, but would prefer to use the Redline. So there!

If you really want to stir up some sh*t, post this in the "Dealer hasn’t been draining my oil cooler" thread [crazyeye][crazyeye][crazyeye]
Or, for a real shit starter, which oil is best.

Me too. But that's all they would admit to. I think the filter is a given (or it was removed completely - if you ain't changing the oil, you ain't going to bother with the filter either)

The engine probably wouldn't have lasted as long as it did without a filter. Assuming it doesn't have a cartridge filter, in which case the oil wouldn't leak out if it was removed.

I just changed the oil in my Cub Cadet riding lawn mower. It hasn't been changed in 10-12 years of summer and winter abuse. It has lived a hard life. It fires on the first time and runs like a top till it's out of gas.

I drained the oil while it was 35*F in the shop... it took a while. It wasn't clumpy, it wasn't shiny, it wasn't any different looking than 6mo old oil. I didn't pull the valvecover or the head off of it, and I won't until she pops... but as it stands, my decade long maintenance intervals haven't let me down on the Linamar 14hp I've been running since the 1990s. This tractor runs for roughly 2 hours a week, every week, all year. This isn't typical for me with my other stuff... just one of those things I decided I would push the boundaries on and see how it went. I didn't think another 10 years were in the cards because the tractor is failing around the engine at this point.

Friend of mine just kept topping off the oil in his 90s ranger... went 90k before the body rotted off of the frame. From showroom new to the junkyard with the same oil filter.

My engine probably also looks like that under the cover.
According to my (uninvited) friends at Uconnect, it's oil life is now down to 1%.

That's after three oil changes in just over 3,000 miles. Guess I need to call them, or send a copy of my log book, to keep them up to date and in the loop.

Or just reset the oil life by holding down the OK button. I think.

Yeah, I just went through that procedure on my Ram 3500 today. Normally I only reset Trip B, and that's only meaningful if I lose the log book.

Maybe I'll get some black suits knocking on the door if I leave the oil life meter as is? At the very least, I should get an angry email.

That's what the suits would show up for; my warranty paperwork.
