On the Buick, these "ports" were indicative of the engine the car was outfitted with.

6 ports (3 each side) = 6 cylinders.

8 ports (4 each side) = 8 cylinders

Funny to see rice rockets and mini vans, with these on the front fenders, from Pep Boys. LOL

Hmmmm....the car in the pic has 3 ports each side...yet the grill says super eight...:unsure::confused:
