How are some of you guys tying down your cars? I plan on towing mine occasionally this year which means I need to invest in something to secure it to my 18' open car trailer. I've towed alot of stuff over the last 30 some years but nothing this low or expensive. The ratchet straps and slings I have are ok for trucks, tractors, and rescuing my childrens vehicles, so what i buy will be specifically for this car.

I have tie downs that bolt to the frame or suspension. Got them from Petty’s garage, then I use HD ratchet straps.Challenger

I X strap mine through the wheels since it's below the suspension. It stays tight 99% of the time, even through South Carolina on I95 north.

I cross them in the rear and the fronts i have straps that go through the front wheels, I use Vulcan straps and have been very happy with them. I currently do not have a picture showing the front, attached is the rear. View attachment 94531
Why not through the back wheels?

I already had the straps with hooks for my open trailer and it does not take as long to unhook them versus undoing the strap from the ratchet portion. My car sits to low in the front and I am too fat to squeeze between the trailer and fender to try and hook the hook under the car in the front, lol

So far I have never had the straps come loose, doing it like this. My normal drive to the track is 3.5hrs or more.

I'm rolling around on the floor and sweating my old, fat ass off but it sure keeps it locked down.

Mine is super low for some reason. I had to get special ramps installed so it wouldn't tear up the splitter.

🤣🤣🤣

i use a set of race ramps to get mine in or it will drag every time.

I looked at race ramps but it just looked like a hassle.

The 1st time we tried to load it, it tore the splitter getting back off and ripped the chrome strip off right above the gate. We had to jack the trailer up in the front to get it to clear.

I think the race ramps are pretty easy to use and then if I need to get the car up in the air at the track I can back it or drive it up on them instead of messing with the floor jack.

Mine needs work, it's going into the trailer and home.

Do the straps wear the finish off the wheels ?

They don't. Never leave a mark.

The straps have a sleeve that protects the wheels from being scratched.

What I am using for the rear points.
What are you hooking to on the car?

I really like this setup for an open trailer. No track system. I don't have rub rails but could add attaching points.

I looked at them. Definitely easier but I don't trust any attachments above the suspension. It has a tendency to work loose?

Thanks, easy to do, don't have to reach under the car or add more hardware to the car or more tie downs to the trailer itself. After they are tight, no worries or no scratching to worry about. Just make sure whatever points you use onyour trailer it obviously holds. What trailer are you going to use?
