Damn the Electric Revolution is here and Ford has introduced the take out your ICE motor and drop in the Electric motor. The change of times is truly here and yikes imagine the Hellcat Motor being yanked in place of the Crate ELectric wow.

Eluminator is Ford's electric crate motor
Ford Eluminator electric crate motor

A Ford electric crate motor will also give builders another option for EV conversions of classic cars, which are becoming popular. Just as the Blue Oval's current crate engines let builders keep their vintage Mustang or Deuce Coupe projects all-Ford, the Eluminator will cater to EV builders with a sense of brand loyalty.

At least one aftermarket company has shown off an electric crate motor. California-based Electric GT unveiled one in 2019, shaped like a V-8 gasoline engine, and installed in a vintage Toyota Land Cruiser.

Chevrolet has been experimenting with electric crate motors since 2018's eCOPO Camaro, a drag racer equipped with an 800-volt charging system that ran a 9-second quarter mile. Chevy followed that up with electric C-10 pickup truck and K5 Blazerbuilds for SEMA. The Blazer featured a bolt-in electric-powertrain conversion, mostly using parts from the Bolt EV. When the Blazer build was unveiled (virtually) at the 2020 SEMA show, Chevy said it planned to begin selling the conversion kit to customers in 2021.

You just know itā€™s just a matter of time the Hellcat is converted to an electric crate motor. Someone will want attention and will no doubt do it.

I would agree, If someone here is doing it, please let me know - I would take the motor and trans (must be a manual - of course) and put it to good use. I have a 71 Duster that needs a good motor... lol

I can act all diehard ICE and all that but I'm sure before I die I'll probably be in a EV.
It's inevitable that EVs are the future.

How old are you?

Unless you choose to do so, we have a minimum of 20 years of ICE left in the industry before EVs truly take over.

Maybe not at the level of HC level ICE, but still in existence.

Are you thinking about the 2034 deadline? I understand people will be driving ICE for the next century unless the government outlaws gasoline.

It primarily deals with the fact that unless something radially changes, the turn over rate, and supply chain capacity won't allow for a sudden disappearance of ICE.

Want to talk about a huge carbon footprint??? Take almost 300 million ICE powered vehicles that are in decent running order and mandate them off of the road. What a horrible waste of resources. (With not enough EVs to replace them)

And where is the electricity going to come from? We're are losing more power here in CA because of draught. Can you imagine what will happen when the population comes home from work and they all plug in at the same time every night?

Fossil fuel plants are being decommisioned every week,, in Florida. They are not being replaced with any thing. Nuclear is out of the question. They are taking one down in Crystal River, Fl for leaking that nasty stuff. 300 years to take this plant out. We don't make the power and couldn't trans port it any way. Fixin to start raining again. Distribution,,,, forget it.

I'm 51. My guess is that I'll be out of the hobby at around 65 - 67. I'm hoping I will have gotten it out of my system by then. So if gas is outlawed by 2040, I should be OK. No electric motor conversions for me thank you.
