Is it necessary to put this cover (for driver side heat extractor directly over cold air) sent with the JLT cold air intake. I know it is for rainy, damp conditions. But wouldn't that hinder the reasoning for a cold air intake? Would it not make a difference in the chance of cooler air??
Please advise.

I never installed mine but my car never sees rain either. I cover filter with a store bag when washing it

I have that cover on only because that “extractor” is designed to remove warm under hood air, I figure sealing it up helps to keep the air box pressurized rather just flowing in through to inlets and out the hood. Prob. doesn't make much if any difference anyway. I also removed the cowl cover over the master cylinder thinking it would help remove under hood air, fwiw.

I have blocked off the scoop and warm air extractors on the return of a 250 mile trip after monitoring all my temps on the way up. There was no noticeable change in IAT or any other temps. I am sure it is not going to hurt anything to cover the airbox.

JLT claims the cover lowers IATs. I have a hard time figuring out how, but that's what they say.
