I going to the dyno this week to see what my ‘21 RE puts out at the rear wheels. I’ll be doing the first couple pulls with my recently installed JLT cold air intake, then we’ll do a couple pulls with the stock intake installed while she’s strapped in to see how they compare. I’ve seen TC is recommended to be off, and to do all pulls in Track Mode. I’m not sure how it would compare, but everything I’ve read across forums speak of 5th gear pulls. Any reason to not hit 6th or 7th (8th) besides mph on the drums? (3.09 rear differential).

I was considering doing the first couple pulls with the stock intake on first, then swap it out for the JLT after cool down, that way I’m not robbing the stock intake of any potential performance after she’s all hot. I figure that would give the JLT a small disadvantage, but I don’t want any inflated numbers showing more than “true” values for the JLT. What say you?

Any other advice from you folks with regard to my very first Dyno?

Excited and looking forward to doing this!

Following for results!

FWIW I did my dyno pulls on my Charger Hellcat in 4th and 6th gears, and it made 0.5hp and 4.6ftlbs more in 4th than in 6th gear (4th gear was done first).

What wood 9th gear do fer ya. Why JLT?? Many other products on the markets. I have been using a diferent product since 1996 and has given me all I was promissed. Now the hand held tuners are a different stories. Some cars work great others not o good,,, but for $500 what to exspect when you don't dick with it every day. Back to bed with gla ders in my my nute head.

I have seen parts that make power on a dyno not make any difference in real world (drag strip) I will say being they both are open filters it will make a better comparison then an open to a closed airbox. The redeye air intake is huge and I don't think there is a restriction. Power will be within a couple of HP which you can get just running a car on dyno multiple times with no changes. Those are my thoughts but this is why we test parts

The worst restriction on the stock filter in the Redeye/Hellcats isn’t the filter or box imo. It’s the rubber grommet.. that gets hot and doesn’t stay as cool or cool down as fast as the CF on the LMI and Aluminum on the B Woody. That in my opinion is the biggest flaw with the stock air box setup just the grommet. Plus the aftermarket setups I’m using produce much more whine that you can hear in the driver seat

Based on that and load I would rather do 4th. They say to run your car in whatever gear gives you 1:1 or close to it. As long as you are doing all the testing in the same car it shouldn't matter

With both being open filters, why would one be louder then the other, airbox design?

6th is the 1:1 gear. But it shouldn’t matter what gear it’s in if you have a good LOAD based dyno (not a DynoJet that’s inertia based)

The dyno I use is a Mainline ProHub

just watch this video and fast forward to 5:30. It shows the direct comparison in the cabin POV. Just listen 😄. It Ricochets off vehicles and objects (like medians etc. // in tunnels it’s insane) in your near facinity noticeably louder as well.

I can see the difference. The stock one has an airbox which the other doesn't so that would make it louder

I think the stock hellcat airbox makes enough noise for me but I know others like the whine as loud as they can get it:)

The best part is when your going slow actually like near where people eat outside and you just go like 4th or 5th gear and give it a gentle pull above 2500rpm to 3000 going like 30mph and up a bit. Makes the sweetest harmonies lol. People look in awe and confusion like what the heck is that sound haha 😂. Alien spaceship

I am not so sure about that...makes me want to try one just to see. I just don't think there is much(if any at all) heat transfer to the incoming air from the rubber tube, and I have a hard time believing it gets hotter than aluminum or a CF tube.

To the OP, good luck on the dyno! I had my car(2.62s) dynoed in 5th gear, dyno operator didn't want to do 6th gear and it made a pretty big number, if fact no one believes it LOL but have the car in track mode and transmission in M, paddle shift it up into gear and the let her rip! Try to hit 6400+ rpms!

Well... It looks like I’ll have to wait a little longer than expected. Just called to confirm my spot on the dyno tomorrow and “the guy” is out all week on his honeymoon. Can’t he get his priorities straight?! JEEZ!

I appreciate everyone’s insight. I’ll post results a soon as I can get her in! Thanks everyone.

Would 10th be better?? Why JLT? why not? Had I listed one of the “many other products on the market” would I have to justify that choice? Is the “different product” you’re using classified? Care to share what it is, by chance?

I have an aFe intake on order. Their claims are impressive but somewhat unbelievable. I’m just looking for the added sound with the extra power an added extra.

The Dyna sheet below leaves me wondering why the test dates are so far apart. View attachment 41562
Looks good on paper. but if it were worth 50hp, everyone would have one

Ya, like I said. I’m looking for more SC sound and if there’s any HP increase that’s just a bonus. I also ordered a sock for it to keep in the car just in case I get caught in the rain.
