Could be what Dodge told us a couple of years ago. Not much weight added, they will put electric power on the front wheels to get us moving. But, that don’t make sense either. If they could just begin removing weight and we would be ahead! We live in good times. The best of ICE going and we are getting some interesting battery powered things.

You got a great idea @WhipCat they could afford to add a generator to just keep it going and still come out good! This is just getting going.

If the tesla looked cool I'd consider it. They'd sell even more if it actually looked fast.
I know where one of their original roadsters is sitting.

even if it last what 6-8 pulls, that’s a full day at a half mile race or a night out at the drag strip.

just have a nice generator in your race trailers put slicks on all 4 tires, and beef up the suspension. These bastards are gonna be crazy
It doesn't even need slicks or a burnout, just drive it off the show room floor, go straight to the drag strip, just keep a generator handy if needed & hurt feelings & egos.

Can't say it would hurt my feelings if I raced one. It costs nearly 3 times what I paid for mine. It has speed but nothing else

...and while Plaids are $140k+, most people only lease them because these have not proven to be the type of cars you want to own long term, due to both long-term quality issues, but moreso because Tesla keeps updating and advancing their technology and that's probably the most important thing to the people that buy these. Just like needing the newest iphone

That & trailer queens that have tons of money in their cars, trailers & trucks to tow & constantly working on them.
Unless you have a 8 second car or faster it's (Plaid) not gonna be beat.
And it's a street car not a monster motor track only car.
We say 140k is a lot of money & it is but what does it take to run 8's ? it could cost at least 140k & when you blow that motor up how much more will it take to make it better again & not be reliable or a 4 door to put the family in & drive cross country if you wanted to.
It is a remarkable time that we are living in now & it's just getting started. In 5 > 10 years we will probably see 8 second cars easy with no sweat & won't even have to turn a wrench on it or tow it, drive it where ever you want to.

I would rather have a 10 second hellcat then a 8 sec Tesla. I could put my grandmother in a Tesla and she would run the same times as anyone else. Hell you will be able to sit in the stands and watch your Tesla go down the track. What fun is that? I like the fact that you need some skill to drive a hellcat. I like to drive the car not the car drive me.

I remember a guy that completely gutted his Tesla, and trolled drag strips with it. Was a fun set of videos to watch.

I can only imagine someone getting the plaid, completely stripping it, dropping radials on all 4 corners.

The same skill as you say, would be the same skill in any other car !
Unless your driving a manual, there isn't much skill in a auto, except being good on the tree.
Automated driving can be added to any car, it's been done.
Don't get me me wrong, I still Love my HC, that's why I said I would still keep it & have a Plaid too.
Oh & I'm sure your grandmother could drive your HC just fine too.

I don’t think so I have seen redeye run low 11s on DRs at the track with a shitty driver same day I was running low 10s. Launching a hellcat demon or redeye takes skill or else everyone would have low times. Launching a Tesla or any 4wd car is hit the gas to the floor. I bet I could jump in any Tesla and get the same time as the owner. I also bet no Tesla driver could jump in my redeye and run my times.

Additional info on the battery and usage:

This guy hit the quarter mile track, stayed long enough to make six runs, did not charge while there, and left the track with 77% charge still showing. Not bad. Had to pedal the car to keep from getting tossed out of the track bc running low nines in mid-150s. Last race is versus modified Redeye Charger. Plaid pedals it and pulls a .003 second win.

At what point will the EPA start regulating how fast a battery can be drained from flooring it? 99.9 percent chance you aren’t charging your Tesla with solar power.
Think of what would be capable of our cars if they weren’t regulated like electric cars on mpg
The 720 isn’t Mclearens fastest car either.
no it does not cost 140k to run 8s in a hellcat.
Not saying I wouldn’t take a plaid for a spin but you wont catch me selling the hellcat for an electric car.

lol, lack of funding. please feel free to contribute to my "some kind of fun car" fund. It's tax deductible because I'm a non-profit. And I say "some" because I'm not sold on any particular car at this point. Though this particular model is a technological tour de force.
