Another sign of trouble is when the top dog (RE) is heavily discounted to move the product, bottom line challengers are not selling well at all in 2019.
Not much is selling well in 2019. Its a down year in the automotive market

No Demons are unsold... FCA doesn't have any sitting the showroom. Not trying to be a wise ass, but make the point that FCA is not going to give a **** what happens to those Demons after the money changes hands. This is a business and they'd kill your children if it would move cars.
Unsold you say? Dodge.com states there are 23 matches of "Demon" at dealers in a 150 mile radius of zip code 90001 LA

I just took this about 2 minutes ago. Anyone know if it is accurate?

FCA doesn't own them, the dealer does. And by the way they won't sell them at the listed MSRP if they still have them. Some are listed and have been sold months ago.

Semantics.

Some, not all.

My points irrefutably stand (at this stage) regarding greed and market saturation.

Interesting chat here, hard to know what the future holds. Lots of uncertainty except for the fact that we'll continue our journey around the sun.(my attempt to compete with the whit that's always on display here!)

FWIW I had the chance to purchase a Demon at MSRP, got the call to be able to custom order one however I wanted it, would have been about $90k and I could have optioned it to be 1 of 1, which is how quite a few of them are I believe...just like the last batch of Vipers. I would have only bought it to flip it, and would have hoped for $130k...but I would have had to wait about a year to receive the car. Passed on it as the timing was bad for me. I like the fact that the GNX came up, to be that's the car the Demon is most similar to in today's times IMO. It took a long time for the GNX to hit big $$$ and there's no guarantee the Demon will do this in the future. I hope for you guys holding them that you get some enjoyment out of them...

So I'm one of those people who were swooned back into the dealer to trade up with the latest rebates and power dollars, got my redeye for about $15k off sticker and I absolutely love it. I'm curious to learn how many have been made and the production breakdowns when they become available.

Foe those of you who hate how it has killed your immediate resale value, like has been stated, Dodge has slashed prices on their muscle cars at times before doing this to owners, but it has never done any long-term resale damage. I was driving a SRT8 in 2007-08 and they were tough times. I think as long as our economy stays stable we wont have much to worry about, this will just be a blip. Who knows about the economy going forward though, I read we've never gone this long without a recession.

Based on MarkP supplied numbers challenger sales are down over 30% year over year, and this is extended model year, usually by September FCA has switched over and is producing the next model year.

Very interesting chat indeed! I think i developed a bad case of hemorrhoids by sitting on the toilet too long as I read this 8 page thread! My casual observations are:
  • @Hickster - i may be in the minority but i have always understood all of his posts! Here on this board and on the other site. It's like being in a smoky bar with a drink in your hand, loud music playing, and checking out the pretty ladies as they are shooting pool. You may not hear every single word he says but the context of his conversations are easily understood: car talk mixed with life experiences mixed with good ole bourbon. I enjoy all of his posts and wish he would publish a book...i would buy!
  • Demon is a Demon! Regardless if MSRP or markup was paid, the hype that surrounded this car was amazing!!! Before i was even a Mopar owner, I saw the announcements all over the web and YouTube and couldn't get enough! The fact that a race crate with factory warranty was provided made this even more insane!
  • Redeye is an amazing second choice! Not just because of the drive train but because of the fact it is a "street friendly" Demon sibling and I would suspect most buyers are into street manners and not necessarily quarter mile drag strip racing
  • Demon prices are dropping and will continue to do so unfortunately. We are headed for a Recession, political turmoil, new Corvette C8 (which Chevy is hosting C8 roadshows in major cities so this will help their sales and word of mouth), and the fear of the Democrats taking over next year and imposing super strict green laws are undoubtedly swaying potential buyers
  • I also firmly believe Demon prices will rise again in the future since the look of the Demon is nostalgic and of a true muscelcar
  • Redeyes are an amazing deal for those that like to modify and don't care about resale value and just want to enjoy and have fun! The stout motor, transmission and fuel system are begging for an E85 race tune with pulleys and those guys are banging out low 9's in the 1/4
  • These are all just my humble opinions and musings. I really wish @ResumeSpeed was still around. He would be able to give us SOLID answers!

People still dont understand that a HEMI CUDA or GNX can be driven if desired, 30/50 years after being produced so that has helped with the collectibility and the pricing. Will the Demon be able to be driven in 30 years? If not, it will be a museum piece and not worth a whole lot.

If you are talking about electronics failure, im sure there will be someone who will make a computer to make them run in 30 years if this is the case.

My first PC from 1994 fired right up when i was moving my parents last summer. Almost 25 years old and the only problem was Windows 95 o_O

yea i would think the electronics is a big "fear factor" but hell in 30 years, we can just drop in a Hellephant crate motor for cheap!

So your point is that no current car except Tesla would be able to be driven?

Dont worry about resale and enjoy these cars this is my demon and it was torn apart and modded within a month of ownership i have about 1100 runs on it and had a great year traveled and met alot of good people, everyone knows what a demon is kids love it they are always taking pictures sitting in it.my wife has a redeye she races also i go to the track with my cars as soon as i get them usually with a temp plate on them.i break them and i fix them never worry about warranty.i think the modded cars with full cages will hold there value well people are scared to tear it apart and put cages in them but most tracks out west will kick you out for running under 10's so a done and sorted race car will have value.
