I bought the car, just waiting on shipping. Scheduled for pickup this coming Monday, delivered 6-8 days later.

Also have a Barton shifter on the way. Need to get smart on the skip shift delete and whatever else you guys have mentioned.

Missing my Granddaughter’s
They were supposed to be in for Christmas, the day before I was supposed to go pick them up from the airport covid scare on their end, luckily just a scare. Rescheduled for the 28th, my boy started getting sick Christmas Day, tested positive for covid Sunday
I tested positive Tuesday, Wife yesterday Now their not coming until the 16th ……
Right now I’d sell the farm and go out to them and just stay there already lol

whats funny is when i traded in my M6 for the beemer one of the other salesmen had a wide body m6 and he told me the cat will be worth way more than the M5 ten years down the road. He's probably right.

Well, I cancelled with RoadRunner and booked with Sherpa Auto Transport.

The reason I cancelled was RoadRunner still has not assigned a carrier and the pickup is due on Monday. What I didn't know with Roadrunner (first time shipping a car for me), is that the pickup date was not guaranteed. It appeared that way online but somewhere in the small text I'm sure it said it wasn't. When I would check in with them to see if this was going to happen on time or not, they basically told me they'll keep slipping the date until they find a carrier.

So, I called around and got a few different quotes. Sherpa actually called me to chat about this and I learned a lot. They can see the "job board", which is all the jobs out for bid right now, so they could see my job out for bid with Roadrunner. He said they (Roadrunner) have the job out for bid at a price that is too low, so nobody is picking it up right now. For example, of the $1700 I was going to pay Roadrunner, they were only going to pay the driver $1300. If there wasn't much work this week, I am sure someone would pick it up. However, there seems to be plenty of work and the Sherpa rep gave me a price based on that real time data, so the bid can actually be competitive with other bids out there and someone will actually pick it up.

So, cancelled with Roadrunner (didn't cost me anything because they hadn't assigned a driver yet) and booked with Sherpa. Sherpa did not think highly of Roadrunner and thought that some of their stuff was gimmicky. For example, I paid $100 to guarantee a top load on the trailer but Sherpa tells me, as the broker, there is absolutely no way to guarantee that. He said they could request it but it's up to the driver and their route/loads ultimately.

So, if you want your vehicle within a specific time frame, you'll need to pay more to make it happen. The cheapest option isn't going to work unless you have some time on your hands. Sherpa adjusts their quote based on what you tell them. So, if I wanted my car picked up on Monday, they can see what the highest paying job is right now and then they would put my job out higher than that, to make it attractive and give it the best chance of being picked up right away.

It’s in PA and I’m in UT. If it wasn’t Winter time or I was confident in the road conditions, I’d consider it.

I’d be losing money if I flew out to get it (cheaper for me to ship than spend 3 days of my time getting it) but man it would be a fun road trip if the weather was better.

Plus, I’ll be out of town this next week anyways, so hopefully when I get home it shows up a few days later.

Quick update on the shipping company:

I basically hired them Saturday evening, told them that any day this week would work for picking up the car. Called them last night because I hadn’t heard anything and they chatted with me, said they felt I was still in a good position for someone to pickup the job.

The seller called me this morning and said they were 30 minutes away haha. They found someone to pickup the job in just 2 business days, which I was pretty impressed with.

The seller said they were very professional and had no problem loading the car on the trailer properly. Should be receiving it Monday or Tuesday. I’ll update more when I get it.

Years and years ago, let's see, 30 years ago actually. Took my grandfathers old car to get new tires put on it (we'd had to take it away from him - he'd pull up to a red light and wait a few seconds, then get impatient and just roar through without looking - was going to kill people). Found that some tool bag who had done work on the car for him and cross threaded and over-torqued a lug bolt like that. Just disappointing. Some kind of red Pontiac two door (he'd always been a Pontiac man except for when he got himself a Karmen Ghia to play with).

And as an aside, I like lug nuts and studs, cause you can hang the wheel on the hub, then put them all on. I'm lazy like that.
