Giving up on the 911

I don't consider any of the HC's..or Demons truly rare..I do have a somewhat rare bike..an original "78" Kawasaki Z1R Turbo (Black Moly edition)...unrestored..mint ..in the wrapper..3400 original miles..I purchased the bike new in 78...everything is original down to the air cleaner...

Cool bike! I would ride it. Bet it kicks butt and is one scary SOB. That was back when I wanted one, but lucky for me every respected person around me was not about to give me a positive thought about riding a motorcycle when I was young and dumb.

I got this interesting Harley myself. It is a FXLR numbered special edition from 1993. While I have bolt on parts installed (like everyone) we can return it to 100% stock with the four big cases of parts I have retained since purchase in 1994 that my wife cannot understand at all. It is an extremely rare little bitch, that gets more desirable by the year, from what I understand but I probably will not sell it until I quit riding. That is the Harley model that had a frame configuration extremely similar to many “jap” bikes. Maybe the same as that Kawasaki. It is a dream to ride. Has a torque curve that resembles a Hellcat just a shit wad less numerically. Oh, and it can get 45 mpg on tour.

I mostly go the opposite direction on insurance. I prefer to get the least I think I'll need and put the saved money away for a rainy day. I have the 170 insured for what it cost me basically.

Agree. There has even been a few track days where I did not purchase the insurance. One day that trick did cost about $3,500.

1 of 200 imported in 2008. B-King [one year in USA]. It's a Busa, in sheep's clothing. I did a ton of small changes. The only really obvious thing I did, was put a Busa front fender on it.

And the Z1R...(back in 78)..was a death trap...Kawasaki for years was the 1/4 king...then in 78 Yamaha introduced the XS 11...shaft drive...and dethroned Kawasaki for 1/4 honors...Kawasaki took 500 normally aspirated Z1R's sent them to american turbo pac...then to Moly graphics for a custom black/3striped paint and sold them to selected dealers...the turbo had an adjustable wastegate set @ 8psi...I ran 12psi and never broke anything...I believe the Yamaha ran a 11.60 in 78....they put a slick and a wheelie bar on a Z1R running 12 psi...and pee wee reese ran an 8.65 with it...I was sold had to have one...frame geometry was terrible..front and rear tires were the same size...@ 135 it would go into a death wobble/tank slapper...that the only way out was to power out of it...almost killed me twice...another thing I will never sell

B-Kings are more a Euro thing. The styling from the factory is questionable, and they aren't good for the USA super-slabs. At 155, it was everything I had to keep my fingers from gradually being pulled from the grips. Definitely for twisty and lower speed roads. It's a good stoplite racer. Ryan Schintz dyno-tuned mine with 1 mile on it. It had 56, when he finished. With the USA emissions removed, remapped [fat, cause it was brand new] ...and a pair of Yosh cans, it made 187 at the wheel and 105 torque. There's no ram-air on the B-King....However, It did keep up with traffic.

At Land Speed Trials, more than half the bikes do over 200 in the 1.5! So many that are so fast, it's almost boring! And most of the guys use them as daily drivers!

Great bike, had a black/silver one Regret selling it. You rarely see them. I think there were more than 200 imported though.

Back when Terry visited the Suzuki-Dealers to promote the king of dragbikes. I don't know how many decades they used that basic engine design in NHRA Pro Stock bike.
