Quick question. I know I've got some learn'in to do, but I did the HC air box on my Scat and the temps ran 3-5 degrees of ambient. The HC is running around 50 degrees above. I know there is more plumbing its running through, but dang - Where is the temp taken from? 20200518_152916.jpg

Lot of difference when you have a SC, what year is HC...newer,(17 up) have IAT in intake bellows and temps are combined from a couple of sensors. Heat soak is real as SC squeezing air causes heat, and motor soaks SC housing as well.

I also have an 18 mine is WB...temps are typically iat of 40-50 over ambient after it heats up, plan on installing spacer plates and thermal blanket on intake valley and bottom of SC......should be significantly lower when I'm done.

It's normal. For fun last night, 2.5 hours after parking it in a closed garage with its hood down, I was curious, since I recently had an OEM sc pulley fail. Most of the components showed 160-180+ degrees with the digital infrared! The pulley and the intake air tube were some of the hottest components other then a reading deep below the supercharger near the water pump.

That sounds pretty close to what I was saying, I will do the same with my Fluke after spacer/thermal blanketing and see what improvements are noticed.

So 17 and up combine the IAT sensor in the intake bellows with the after blower IAT sensor to give you that intake air temp on the performance pages?

Yes it will. I’ve done both cars with good results.

You can't compare a Scat to a Hellcat, completely different readings. The Scat was reading a sensor in the intake. The Hellcat reads a sensor in the base of the supercharger for the dash gauge. It's gonna read a lot hotter as it's surrounded by metal and right before the air enters the engine. There's another intake sensor in the Hellcat that reads a couple degrees over ambient, but that's not the one displayed on the dash.

My Bad. you need to update your info. For that is not 2019 Scat Red. LOL your post read to me as you installed the Hellcat air intake on your scat, and was wondering why the temps were higher than the stock Scat temp. I was confused. not unusual for me these days.

That's what I was asking, thanks.
