Paint "wrinkling" issue '22 DSRT ...

I was detailing my DSRT a few days ago and noticed a small patch of wrinkling.

Which is by chance almost exactly what happened to another car.

Which is by chance almost exactly what happened to my '19 Stinger GT some time after I bought it new:

Neither of the cars had "wrinkling" appear anywhere else except on the cars driver's side bumper.
What gives? Anyone know or have a guess?

I saw this happen 6 years ago on another car.

An engineer/body guy I know said a new bumper was probably needed.

And both the Stinger and the DSRT are black (it never occurred with my other non black colored vehicles).

So I was at a car meetup and I talked to my friend who is an engineer, who also restores cars, whose son owns a body shop.
He looked at it and in less than 60 sec said he thought he might have the answer.

He said look for something in your neighborhood that would throw a focused reflected beam of some sort into an area of my driveway (flagpole, antenna, etc).
He said he could see where spots of wrinkling appeared in a horizontal direction across the surface (suggesting the movement of the sun was involved).

He might be onto something.
He also said he didn't think it was repairable, that a new bumper was probably needed.

I disagree.....to generate the heat needed to cause that surface damage...it would need to be in close proximity to the surface...just my .02

I don’t buy it, you’d see tons of cars with that issue all the time. Looks more like how when a solvent gets on paint

Reflected light seems unlikely, would need to be close by & intense/focused by something acting as a prism to damage paint like that.

Looks like it’s happening here too. Environmental, if it happened to 2 cars. Where did you bring both to? Have any neighbors that don’t like you? I’m more inclined to say crap paint job with oils under the paint/ not enough hardener

Well you say it doesn't wash....there can be many reasons for the paint imperfection...you seem to attach some significance to the compromised area..(lower drivers side bumper)...I'm certainly sure a visual of the area around where you park the vehicle will rule out sun reflection.....now if still not convinced..I suggest you turn the car around when parked..in the same spot as usual....if your theory..(and your engineer's)...is valid...you should see evidence of the same deterioration...my guess you will not..in which case you rule out his explanation...

Good deal. Let us know what they say about it. I’m betting on factory issue. Like I said the paint is a big problem and bad around that time
