Trying to order a 2023 Challenger Redeye and the dealer (Dan Cummins) claims the 3.09 Rear Axle Ratio is not available. Does this sound correct?

Because it is standard and not an option?

I stand corrected by myself! I looked at the window sticker we had to give them $595 for the 3.09.

3.09 was an option on the Redeyes but could be the only option now?

If I try to build a 2022 standard body (23 not online) the 3.09 is a $1095 option. On the wide body I don't see it as an option, shows 2.62

Jailbreak which is a widebody shows the 3.09s as an option

Oh boy, further restrictions and lack of options confirmed for the more common models. That means the effective cost of a 3.09 is basically more than just $1,095.

Add it after you get it.

The cost of the 3.09 and also SRT performance rear spoiler have gone up a lot since 2019! I almost bought a spare 3.09 diff from my local parts department 2 years ago for like $750, didn't know where I was going to put it etc...so I didn't buy it, but I sure wish I did now because I just re-checked recently and it it was almost $1500!

One reason I didn't buy it though is my car is super quick and cannot get traction with the 2.62s, I'm not convinced it will be any faster with the 3.09s. In theory I get it, it has to be quicker...but I dunno.

Depends on your goals. For most it isn't worth the tenth at the track. I didn't even notice the change driving every day. Some 3.09s are louder also which mine happen to be but if you don't have an aluminum driveshaft they may be quiet. I may put them back in next year just to help get an 8 second pass if needed

I don't follow conventional opinion on the subject.
I have run a few cars when I was stock that switched to 3.09 or had a 3.09 already.
Same day same lane with back to back passes it has not yet been proven to me they are quicker. As for 60' my 2.62 car isn't missing much and would make up the difference by the 330' or the 660' .
Always out moph the other car also.
Now that the car has a tune (due to cat recall) it is more difficult to compare.
You could compare BMason and my car as they are pretty close in set up. Mine is heavier by 150-200lbs. I think our best 60' is the same at 1.45 so no advantage to the 3.09 there. These comparisons are obviously in low DA and in BMasson's case across the country at different times of year.
I just picked up a new 2.62 for a deal because it was taken out to swap to 3.09.
The guy is a local that I know from the track.
He asked me why I was going back to 2.62.
The look on his face was priceless when I told him my car has the original 2.62 in it and after roughly 1200+ passes I wanted a spare.

Only way to find out is to try it, it is all about testing. Your car may just be faster then others

$2300 + almost 15% tax here I'm good with letting others try. Then when they don't make gains on me, I am comfortable with my opinion and decision to stay with the gears I have.
One car that switched did not gain anything on me, the second that changed stayed very competitive with me, as in flip a coin who will be quicker that day. His issue is traction became a problem.
I had many conversations with Simon years ago when he had gone back and forth with the gears. His advice to me was to not bother because with my 60' I wasn't going to see any gains.

I also will say I didn't see much of a gain until the last time out, not really sure why. Even comparing DA to DA from the year before. If you can find some cheap used or borrow some to test. You are on the edge of 9's as I am to 8's so sometimes you have to try things to get there

If you want 8s I can make that happen. You just let me know. 3 more degrees of timing and 400 rpm should do it.
