Chama reported 8 inches of snow yesterday, surely some of that found you! That's it for a while though save for a few flurries on Saturday maybe...
I've learned that whether it's rain or snow, we get about 25% of what they get. Sure enough, we got about 2"

But I can use a break in the weather to go retrieve my toy hauler from Durango. I wouldn't mind it one bit if there's a foot of snow on the roads, but do not want to drive on salted (or otherwise treated) pavement.

Ouch!! This off season I may attempt to replace that gray debris finding trim at the bottom of mine. Also get some of the wrap down there replaced that has also sacrificed itself. I looked at @Hunter absolutely pristine car a couple of weeks ago in person and felt ashamed of mine I’ll admit.
Thank you sir.

I retired from coaching wrestling this year so I do have some spare time now, preparing to fix something significant on the car soon...drove over a piece of metal debris on the highway at night - didn't see it coming - fucked up the underside :(
Just chiming in as another former wrestling coach! I do not miss competition days and all the paperwork but I sure miss practice!

You cannot turn it off, or better yet why would I? Maybe to zip around a parking lot like a kid spewing snow in donuts?

Think I found the reason the Durango was sliding all over yesterday. Remembered it has a SNOW MODE. Only tried it for one or two swings, but I believe that is the ticket to get the stability control to work as expected in the slick. When in that mode it says T/C = FULL, in street T/C = STREET.

Find some snow and try it.

I switched and did my driveway corner like the afternoon, indeed it felt different and very similar to the Jeep in its Street mode. Going to take it back to Iowa and back in the next couple of days. I’ll confirm soon. Seems like here and south to there at least all have at least 6-10” that made the place ready for Christmas.

We do not generally use that at all in the Jeep, because besides changing the AWD percentage front/rear it raises it up a couple of inches. In the worst shit, I have never needed to change any setting in that wonderful machine.

I say absent slick conditions/spots and on these cold roads and air, that 392 combo with the new tires? Bad ass to the max if others are in the way.
My 3 Durango's (soon to be 4) have been 3 of my best vehicles in the snow that I have ever had and I bought my first new 4 wheel drive vehicle in 1987. I never use the snow mode because I do not like how it cuts the power but I do now always run a set of dedicated winter wheels and tires which has been a game changer for me. I have Hakkapeliitas on my Durango and both my Hornets.

Have to admit it's been a little hard being away from the sport for the first time really, but then again I golfed yesterday afternoon and drank 4 beers, didn't do that on a Wednesday in December ever before! ;)

Awesome to see there are other wrestlers and coaches on here too!

Did you coach in Albuquerque or have you relocated. If so, is there a lot of wrestling in New Mexico? I cannot think of a college team right off the top of my head.

Yeah I coached high school here in Albuquerque (all ages really in our program)….but I grew up and went to school/wrestled back in Minnesota. Have either wrestled or coached basically every year if my life so still getting used to being away from it. My son is in 5th grade so I’m gonna go through it all for one more cycle, but this time as a fan and booster parent…at least that’s the plan now lol

So there is a D2 program in New Mexico, NM Highlands in Las Vegas, but that’s all right now. Used to have a D1 program back in the day at the University of New Mexico, it got Title IX’d though. Would be awesome if they brought it back one day

We used to see some tough MN teams every year at Bi-State. MN HS wrestling is very solid. I really like that they have middle school inclusion. Rounds out the HS teams nicely. I coached all 3 of my kids in Wrestling, Baseball and Softball. I am not sure if that is the best thing for them. I have mixed feelings on that.
