Didn't get a Demon 170, you may be able to get a crate engine

Not bad. When you compare it to what you can buy on the market though… 🤔. Just a humble example 🙃…. I’ll be selling my 426 in the future when the new motor is in and running. I’m thinking $25k for the whole thing… turnkey. That will be fresh after a tear down/refresh. Cylinders/rings, valves, springs, gaskets, etc. (pictures included). So…. a fresh engine top to bottom with billet crank, forged I-beam rods, billet pistons, billet caps, ARP 625 studs, Thiteck heads, Whipple DragPak SC, etc, etc! The 170 is rated at 1025 at the crank. That’s about the same as most your pulley builds make on e85. 900+ rwhp Mine makes 1400. Of coarse I’m sure the 170 will have some sort of sticker or emblem to make it special. 0E626671-415D-427F-8768-6D8E2219D4E2.jpeg

Considering the Hellephant crate motor was like $35K (not including all the markups) and 1000HP I'd say that's a pretty decent price all in.

BUT...will any of these parts ever be actually available??? It is a good thing to finally see a DC catalog update after they basically skipped this year. Got long blocks, the blowers, some other stuff, but still don't see that 170 rear end, axles, and driveshaft :unsure:

The biggest thing in my opinion coming out of the 170 build is that rear end. You can duplicate the engine easily for that money.

It's so odd to me that Dodge could do like really amazingly cool things but somehow seems to always get tripped up. What's up with that?

I've had Power Broker dealers tell Dodge wouldn't release the good stuff until after the Demon 170's were built. No use pissing off the guys that donated 100k ADM to the dealers before they release all the pieces for people to build their own Demon 170's at home.

I got to make a nice video about Mr. Rall BSing me that a Hellephant wasn't in the Demon 170. I love Dodge mouthpieces

Remember that the Hellephant is a BES built aluminum block 426 rated at 1000 hp on pump gas. It will make way more than the 170 if you put it on e85 and turn it up accordingly. Much more serious motor in my opinion. It’s all good because both are good crate packages but….. Dodge calling everything in a crate now a Hellephant is Bullshit. That name is derived from the Elephant Motor nickname for the 426 in the 1960’s. 6.2 L Hellcat/Demon motors are not 426’s. It’s just another example of up labeling something that isn’t …. to sell to people who don’t know. The 426 on my hood was originally a Hellephant badge. I cut the Hellephant head off of it because I wanted the Mopar style 426, but my motor is not a Hellephant and I didn’t want to label it as something it isn’t.
