I ran across a Youtube video (not sure he is on here) where his engine and SC have been damaged on a 2016 Challenger Hellcat (tune related). He had a conversation with the performance shop and they indicated the 17+ Hellcat Super Chargers also had a design improvement along with the bearings. Just curious...

I've heard from someone that the 19's have some improvements, but again its all hearsay. My 2016 blower had 22k miles on it, even using a 2.65 pulley for 14k of those miles and it never had any issues or noise. I think the bearing issue was blow out of proportion. Sure, some had bearing issues here and there, but we saw that across all years.

A lot of the problems I am sure are because people beat the snot out of these cars.

everything I have read doing research on it seems to say that the bearing issue was some 2015's and some early 2016 builds. It seems to indicate sometime in 2016 they changed who was building the superchargers and used different bearings . My 2016 has about 21k on it and no issues.

No change on the supercharger supplier (IHI), however, the bearings were improved on 2017+.

Hellcat 2.4L
supercharger is running for $4000-$7500-ish.
Part Number: 68373302AB (per TechAuthority February 11, 2020)

2017 - Supersession(s): 68271244AB, 68271244AG, 68271244AI, 68271244AJ, 68271244AL, 68271244AM
2016 - Supersession(s): 68271244AB, 68271244AG, 68271244AI, 68271244AJ, 68271244AL

Supercharger Rebuilds:
Jon Bond offers 3 stages:
Stage 1- $1733 - OEM
Stage 2- $2200 - supports up to 18,000 rpm, upgraded bearings/coatings
Stage 3- $3200 - supports up to 22,000 rpm
A 2.85 pulley and stock lower spins ~14psi @ 17,800 rpm.
Stock OEM ~11.6psi @ 14,800 rpm

Redeye 2.7L Supercharger is running $9500-ish:
Part#: 68454113AB (per TechAuthority February 11, 2020)
The advantage here is less rotor rpm, heat, and longevity ~ 14.5psi @ 15,340 rpm compared to a 2.4L with smaller pulley and higher rpm.

If you get a Mopar part and have it installed at the dealership, you get a 2yr/unlimited mile warranty on the part (https://www.mopar.com/content/dam/mopar/pdf/warranty/mopar_parts_accessories_warranty_statement.pdf). That could be beneficial if the OEM bearings go out. As shown above, there have been multiple revisions with the 2.4L Supercharger.

I had my first supercharger warrantied with part# 68271244AG; which is already making driver side bearing noise after 1 year. Another forum member had 68165960AD and just got it replaced with 68271244AM.
