Yeah, I'm old, tired everything hurts, etc....

My back is staring to bother me after using my 18" torque wrench. There are many available that are 24" which decreases effort only 33%. I am looking at this one, it is almost 30" so it would reduce force about 40%. Anyone have any better suggestions?

Pretty low tooth count on that Craftsman. At 30” you run out of runway pretty quickly in tight places. If it’s just for lug nuts, you have all the room in the world, doesn’t matter, but consider more while you’re shopping.

I looked at that yesterday, 24", much better than what I have. If don't find something better I figured I'd wait for the next 20% off coupon.

Remember, I'm an old guy! I have a couple decades on you! I need things to be easier! :)

Yes, lug nuts. I have the short one for other jobs. And thanks, I didn't notice it was only 32 teeth! The Quinn is 72!

What we did in the army when torquing the Jesus nut (with a ft lb torque wrench) was slide a 3 ft pipe over the handle, made that double click allot easier

For lug nuts, just lean your weight over it. 130 lb ft is easy, even on a relatively short torque wrench.

I also have the Quinn digital 1/2", love it. I will be getting all of the Milwaukee click type when they come out this year though

I do that with the breaker bar to loosen them, I have a tube that fits perfectly snug.

Every torque wrench I have seen does not have a nice cylindrical grip like the breaker bar. In that case it is a PITFA dealing with 2 loose fitting parts, not worth the trouble. Turns a 2min job into a 10min job.

When I worked at the a/c company, management issued a directive banning certian common terms, two I remember were "Jesus Nut" and "Chinese Hat". :ROFLMAO:

I never like pushing on a wrench, especially a deep socket with an extension.

My current 18" has a big hex at the far end of the grip that is part of the adjustment lock so it is a lousy candidate for a tube extension. I'll look around, maybe I can find a 24" that is more suitable. If I can make an extension that clamps tightly (maybe weld) that might work. I can just leave the extension on all the time and use the 18" as the portable.

It seems like a 30" might get me close, even if it is only 36 tooth.

This is only for lug nuts, and I have 3 trailers with 10 wheels total, plus 4 vehicles. I do all my own maintenance, swap wheels/tires for racing and winter. Anything better than the 18" would be a big help.

Thanks for the suggestions!
