Have put about 21000 miles on Mechlins Pilot Sports on the Wide body Charger. Done fine for about or near the 20k miles until now that the tires are very slick and in rain or wet pavement just normal driving they are to the point they just hydro plain so very easy and did not before and are very slick which was not before. What are the best tires to run with, that some on here has had decent use with for street running good all around tires? I just feel like these Mechlins should have gone more miles, but maybe not?

Everyday driving? Rain and / or sunshine?

Any reason you purchased them without the mileage warranty. If you want to select tires on miles as you state, there are other tires that have longer mileage warranties. Search on them.

I'm not sure the mileage warranty covers how long they stay sticky in rain. And I think most of us don't ask our HC's to "perform" in wet, I certainly don't.

Maybe the solution is to replace after 20kmi? Or switch to AS tires?

My car has a sensor that prohibits any of these wet type of excuses. All seasons would be interesting. Love to try it out at about -20 with dry pavement and melt some of those. That would be an incredible video.

What is the tread depth left on the tires? These cars (and those that drive them) can be extremely hard on tires resulting in a short life !

I assume they are not A/S? Performance tires are not high mileage tires.

It's not a daily driver and only in rain when caught out.

They look decent for 21000 miles but not so hot like they were. They read 5/10 on the tread meter. kept them rotated and balanced every 6k. They are not a summer tire.

As the tread depth gets shallower the tires ability to channel water away decreases. It's snow capabilities begin to erode before the wet performance.
Not really surprised they are losing their wet performance at 5/10's. Most of tires need to be replaced at 2 or 3/10's anyway.

The Continental DWS tires have indicators molded right into the tread (no idea what the depths are tho):

That should be 2 or 3/32". Otherwise a new tire would have a 1" tread depth and a half worn one still have 1/2" of tread left.

Continental dws 06 plus are fantastic, wet, dry, cold ect. Tested them on several high hp vehicles, even have a few videos on my youtube with them on my redeye charger. I run them on everything (not my g80 m3 comp yet, still has new tires on it)

Hey, it wasn't you that started calling it 5/10 on the tread meter.

I've been running the Conti DSW 06 Plus for some time now on two different cars. I'm 100% satisfied with them.

I used to use the Pilot Sport A/S. They're fine. I did find that traction, (wet and dry) fell off noticeably after they were half-worn. That's when I switched to Conti's.

This is an excellent tire review site: https://www.tyrereviews.com/
An excellent YT channel.

I've run the Conti Extreme (summer only, no need for the "S" in FL) on many different cars & for a long time now. Currently have them on the wife's Q50 Redsport & my Cat. I've considered the Pilot's as they tend to get slightly better ratings, but they are always significantly higher priced. May be worth it if you drive on the hairy edge a lot or race.

I gonna have to put new rubber on my car in the spring. My rear tires hit the wear-bars at 3300 miles. Probably defective.

Rears only? I'm guessing you mean "defective" right foot that's always planted to the floor board.;)
