Thats an old Wives tale bro. Doesnt exist anywhere for any Dept. State or local. Performance evaluations are based on response time to calls, number of complaints, calls for service and abuse of sick time.

Has NOTHING To do with how many tickets one writes.... NOTHING! I was a shift commander for 15 years im well aware of what takes place during performance evals since I conducted them for over a decade!

Of course all of their efforts increase toward the end of the month when they have to meet their "performance goals".

I didn't say during their performance evals, I was referring to monthly "performance goals" or "quotas" for "pieces of paper" from each officer. 5 people in my family are police officers and have confirmed that these daily or monthly "performance goals" (their words) do in fact exist. When my sister was a patrol officer, she was instructed to deliver 5 "pieces of paper" per day. Didn't matter if they were tickets, or warnings, or whatever. Her choice of spot was looking for people who were parked in the fire lane infront of the Walmart in her patrol area. She said it was easy pickings for those 5 pieces of paper.

Semantics bro....... And no they dont exist for the amount of tickets one writes. Those are all "ILLEGAL" in every dept in every state and ur family members are NOT being instructed to write MORE tickets in their monthly goals. Total BS!

U can call it whatever u want but the fact rermains "Quotas" are highly illegal and the officer gets a copy of his or her performance eval so they know exactly what is on it and no where will it say "Needs training due to lack of tickets written". Its not part of the eval and never will be. Its illegal period!

A dept can encourage their officers to have as many contacts as possible and if they write tickets or arrest ppl thats part of their job bro its not called a "Quota."

Its called being paid to do a profession and that job often requires one to take enforcement action. Again, doing ur job isnt part of the "Quota" system bro u seem to be confused on how things work.

There are a LOT of proactive Cops out there that have PRIDE and do their job effectively. They dont need a reason to do their job effectively and ur sister like many cops just finds the easiest thing to do which is write parking tags in a parking lot smh. Some Cops just do a good job all the time bro and dont need performance evals to encourage them to do so. Others, not so much.....

Some ppl chose to write useless parking tags for numbers. Others do speed enforcement in school zones or look for DUI's or stoen cars....... Two each his own.

I'm not arguing with you, as I'm not here for that. I'm speaking from my experiences as are you. I can only go from what I've been told by the people in my family. I'm not in a position to dispute what they've told me and neither are you. Let's just agree that they're different and go our separate ways.

I use an Escort Redline that I need to update. The false signals from lane change radar are annoying as hell. It's really like analog vs. digital in comparison to some of the newer models. Was looking at Escort's latest model that has a built in dash cam also. Haven't pulled the trigger yet because of some of the negative reviews and may wait until they get some of the bugs worked out. I do like the Uniden set up though. A lot of Ka band, IO and occasional laser around here. I'm definitely going to wire it directly into the rear view mirror though. Escort does make a laser shifting device also that is tempting but really expensive. You can easily drop $4k for the top of the line detector and the laser shifting device (front and rear). These cars are so fast that you can go from Ho Hum to Jail in the blink of an eye. I"m personally not fond of the Jail thing and/or having the car impounded.
I understand that the r8 is Unidens answer to the redline and the redline remains a top choice for some good reasons. I ruled it out after watching a ramp up performance video, I'd be slamming brakes all the time lol. I haven't seen much bunk signal from lanedar yet but we'll see.

I hear you on the shifters. It's tempting but the level of install and cost have me at bay. Hope like hell I don't end up spending an evening in the county motel to convince me that it's necessary. lol

There are some good reviews out there on the cam/det combo unit. It certainly looks cool!

Upgraded from the Valentine 1 Gen 1 to the Valentine 1 Gen 2 here, blend mount in the car and the suction cup window mount in the truck. I have the remote display so the radar detector doesn't light up when it sees a radar hit , It also has blutooth for remote display on my smart phone.
I was sure tempted to go that route. It seemed to me like the V1/2 is amazing but may require more understanding than I'm willing to put into settings and such. I need a solid detector for dummies. lmao

How fast is anyone driving that they need one? Back in the 80's I remember them being popular but didn't think they were much of a thing anymore. I travel 75-77 mph for the most part on the highway
Oh, you knowww.. One or two MPH's over the posted limit. :)

It's as much about situational awareness for me. It would be embarrassing to get a ticket for sounding off under an overpass or tricked into a race by our "road rage" police around here. They have mustangs, camaros and even a HC, totally unmarked, driving up and down I10 trying to goad people into racing. I know it's not a police detector but they are still helpful for knowing what's around.

It's not about driving fast for long distances. But it keeps me from doing something stupid at the wrong place and time. Like doing a full throttle pull to well above the speed limit. You just never know where they can be lurking
Well put! Exactly my point as well!

Also, I do not like things blocking my vision, I even hate poorly placed inspection stickers. I like my RD tucked up tight above and to the right of the mirror. Also, better not to advertise. View attachment 82677

Yeah man. And I want to be clear. I support and respect the police. If I do get caught doing something stupid, I certainly wont blame the hard working officer that snagged me.

Sorry you’re deeply saddened. I did seriously ponder 2 and 4 laughing emojis but felt 3 was the perfect amount. 🤔 Yeah, 3’s good 👍

You got an extra reaction because I always mix up the happy and the laughing face. I also learned that I can leave more than one reaction on a single comment. I'd appreciate it if some of guys could just double tap me on those. lol

Got popped by laser early Tuesday morning in Arizona. First time with the newest Valentine 1. Guy must've felt that only about 8 mph over in a 75 was okay. Of course, I also only towed a mere 10,000 lbs. or so.

Those Valentines have save my bacon numerous times. On this particular trip alone. Even though I sand bagged it for the last 100 miles on the 1,385- mile trip, with three fuel stops the average was still a decent 69 mph.

Obviously, I drive faster in the 'Cat than in the 3500, by the way. Then 100-120 mph is a nice cruising speed.
