Yesterday while driving the car under acceleration would shut off and I would get a red lightning bolt in the dash. Upper left. Some have said the alternator could be going or that the throttle body needs a re-learn. Has anyone encountered this? While it happened, I put on the performance pages to see what was going on and car looked healthy.

Of course this happens when I don’t have my laptop.

Okay so went back to a known safe tune. Dropped 1-2 shift to 6200 as thats the one I was banging off at the track. Did a throttle re-learn. Got this again.

Did the throttle re-learn again on the side of the road. Very important. On the last part of the re-learn with HP Tuners do not start the car for the cycle the ignition step. Turn ignition off. Then put ignition in Run/engine off.

Took it on the highway and she felt fine. I think that the changes to Torque Mgmt and turning off ETC A/B might have been the culprit. Well thats a note in my small book on learning how to tune the trans.

I got that warning a few times in my Charger when I was at the track with the car the first time. It seems that I was holding the car in gear longer than the computer liked and I guess I was hitting the rev limiter because the car would nose over and wouldn't recover until I let off the throttle for a bit, then the light would go out and I could get back into it.

If I just left the car in drive and let the computers do the work, I never got that throttle shut down or warning light ever again.

Yeah, just looked at the logs this time. For sure was an issue with throttle and accelerator pedal not syncing. The re-learn made it happy, which means I'm happy, which means racing tonight!

Purple line is pedal, white line that doesn't move is TB. Good thing I was with the laptop and only 60 ft from the house when I hit the gas and it went no where.

I wasn't sure if it was back open yet. I heard they had some issues with 75/80, but I haven't looked into it since hearing that.

I can't make it tonight, but food for thought for the future.

75/80 had permit issues. Stupid AF if you ask me. Capitol is doing great, track prep is improving and the team there is gelling.

I used to be out by 75/80 frequently for work, and seeing the way that area has built up, I figured it would be hard to reopen. The sound of racing carries in that valley. When it was all farm fields, no one really cared, but now there are loads of people in their McMansions all through there. It started getting built up when people got priced out of the DC area. It will be interesting to see how they make out.

I used to race at 75-80. I really liked how it was uphill past the finish line to help you slow down. My RoadRunner with the drum brakes was hard to stop at 120+! I installed special metallic front brake linings but still used to run off the end of the track everytime at Colonial Beach. Luckily it had a very flat open grass field and they kept the grass cut.

I always wanted to put a Turbo Coupe Thunderbird engine in one of those. It would fit right in and 200+ hp would move that little car nicely. You be surprising some people at red lights for sure.

I'm pretty sure the 87/88 stick cars had right around 200 hp +/-, and the autos had less. The SVO Mustang had like 205 or 210 and that car was 2 years earlier. I can't imagine they would knock back the TC stick cars below that.

'88 T-Bird TurboCoupe was 145hp

The same engine in the Lincoln was 195hp??? I think... It always annoyed the shit out of me as I owned the T-Bird...
