My daughter is a nurse
After 4 years of university she earned less at a Windsor hospital then she would working on the line
With worse benefits / pension / general coverage

She now works in Detroit for more money

Collective bargaining is a Socialist/Communist/Fascist idea. Everyone gets paid the same wage whether they produce or bust their asses. For the greater good of the Union we will protect the under performing and chastise the over performing employees for making the under performing employees look bad.

The unions should adopt a merit based system that rewards the good employees and give the company the ability to shit can those that drag the business down. BUT THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN !

Ford haz da rite 2 settle wit anyone but if day don't settle wit da international or ratidal locals,, don't mad er. Gedder dun and go back 2 wurk. Ford awaited till da day befoe da strike and played dare vary asspensive tv cummercials. Grate muve on there part.
Yo Moe,, vary duud point but wen youz have 90% of yo family in da local. Dat ain't groin 2 happen. I have seen dis ovah and over. I have brought family members up on charges. Family fixed da problems on dare OWN time. No charges nose problems 2 bee picked at.

So far they are very tight lipped about the offer
I ll ask my neighbor
He is at the Engine plant
He says made well over 200K last year in Maint as a supervisor
He works 40 plus weekends a year including holidays ( time & a half & double time )
Takes half days off thru the week from May thru Oct ( regular pay ) using his vacation / sick days
8 weeks vacation
He does well but I can t see over 200K unless he makes 60 an hour

He always has cold beer so he is alright in my book

Never been a fan of strict YOS based increases, reason is not everyone 'grows/contributes' in the job over time. Some ppl are just donkeys plodding along the same path over time. As I used to remind my hiring PM's - does this guy have 10 years of experience or just 1 year repeated 10 times - there's a HUGE difference in value !

What there needs to be is merit based increases where the % of the pool available is greater for ppl who have shown strong performance year after year, which indicates they are 'growing' in value over time & not just filling a seat/slot.

LMAO....What fuckin planet did you just drop in from....that would make way ..way too much sense...Our company policy for Christmas bonus for hourly employees is one weeks pay...but I personally give a bonus on top of that..nobody gets the same..its based on all those things you mentioned...and I let them know that...and it's between me and the individual employee..and the first time I hear somebody whinin bout what somebody else got...the extra bonus plan is over...KEEP IT TO YOURSELF...and some of the bonus money is quite substantial...we have a good crew...some are just better than others...that's just the way I do things

This is a touchy subject...none of my operations are union...but as unpopular as it may be with some...on this point...I tend to agree with you...(y)

I would be ok with that as far as myself! I’ve always done very very well on my own merits and accomplishments!! Won’t happen but I would be down!

I, myself, and me, have hired on merit and show ups. Dee guys don't gester paid by eactaly what day know but what they apply. If da cumpany don't make $$, nose body duzes. They wurked hard fur their boners.

Depends on how many hours he is working with over time but still would be making good money without. I will take less money and have most of my weekends off. Plus I dont work more then 8 hours a day
He does the 8 hrs per day 7 days a week
Been doing it at least 15 years
He is crazy actually
Like I mentioned he does the half days off using his vacation thru the nicer weather to break up the week
But its very rare he is off Sat or Sunday
Even on strike he would be working because he is Maintenance

His X loves the support payment LOLOLOL

:LOL::ROFLMAO:I saw one of the people walking the picket line getting interviewed. They were complaining about not being able to pay their bills or feed their kids. Who else see's the irony here ? If you wouldn't live beyond your means and let the union convince you to go on strike, you'd still be getting a paycheck to pay your bills and feed your kids. It seems like they brought this on themselves. They made their bed now they can sleep in it.

After having a taste of UNION life, I don't have any pity for those that demand more and more to do less and less. There is a breaking point that no company will agree to. Unless you are a government or teachers union where the taxpayer is footing the bill because the moronic politicians agree to their terms.
