Me too!!!😊. The latest as of today is we have a “no prep” specialist coming on board for suspension setup and ECU tuning with all the sensors and boost controllers. He has gone over everything and said he will expect to run 4.20’s in the 1/8 on a 28 tire 😳. His only question was if I want to do that and travel to Texas to do some real no prep racing. What do you think 😂

Different strokes for different folks…. Lots of people really like the drag-n-drive thing. My car isn’t built for that but I can understand the interest. Adam at Spankintime makes a family vacation out of the annual Redwood Rally on the west coast. That starts tomorrow. He had a built 5.0 Ford motor from something like 20 years ago and decided to put it to use in this venue. But what to do that would be out of the ordinary…… he found a barnyard Pinto with some real patina on it and built a 800hp twin turbo drag-n-drive car out of it in three weeks. The thing hadn’t run in 40 years and 3 weeks worth of 16 hour days later…..

Well….. I’ve had all the not racing I can take. I’ve been accused of not really being into being on the track and more just into parts collecting. It will be two years since I got down the track in December. I’ve talked to my friend James Golden at Redeye Racecars about needing to have something turnkey that will do that repeatedly without the need for a crew of tuners and specialist. So…. He just found me a pickup truck at a give-away price and I bought it 👊

New never raced engine/driveline. 632 Sonny’s 1050hp at the wheels with a 4 bbl on race gas. Fresh 2 spd glide with a new PST CF driveshaft and a new 5:13 gear. New Goodyears. Full tube chassis with fiberglass body. Total 2500 lbs. Show Truck. Will run 5.0’s in the 1/8 and 8.0’s in the 1/4 with a rear gear change. And…….. it will do it over and over and over. All I have to do is keep it pretty 🤓

I’ve done all the work that I’m capable of doing at this point. It’s ready for the engine, electrical and tuning and that is beyond my expertise at this level. I’ve painted myself into a corner because I’ve had a huge amount of work done on a sponsored basis. Redeye Racecars, Carlin Fabrication and Spankintime have all done a lot of work at what amounts to cost. Saved me tens of thousands. That was done with the expectation that there would be a level of notable performance coming up. The “season” for me out here in the west is November thru April. Not having a car ready for that again this year is frustrating for me. Hopefully stuff will come together soon. In the mean time…. Now I’ve got something else to look forward to. I can honestly say that this truck is a dividend paying investment. I literally paid a fraction of what was invested and it’s still new.

Haha. Yeah. Some of those 900+ cubic inch monsters are something else. A lot of engine building experience over there.

Made the long drive to Vero Beach. This thing is incredible. I’ve always thought the 2000 Lightning PU was the best looking truck ever. I had one back then and it was my favorite street driving vehicle of all time. This thing takes the title badass to the highest level. The detail is spectacular and it’s going to be just as nasty as it looks 👹. Loading her up tomorrow and heading west!

One more round of truck pics and we’ll get back to Hellcat stuff. Now that I have it home and can really inspect the up close details on this thing …. I’m astounded. This is a pro Mod level build that is spectacular in every detail. Ground up tube chassis with a fiberglass/carbon fiber body and interior. The labor and expertise to build something like this is amazing. I’m guessing $300+k. I got it for $50k. Brand new 14:1 comp 632 Sonny’s BBC with a fresh 2 spd glide. The trick shit is too much to list 😵‍💫. So a few more pics and I’ll have something more on Stinkeye soon.

Anytime you fork out the money for an original build, you are going to take a loss money wise when you let it go. I’m in that boat with the hellcat. You chalk up that as the cost of the experience. In this case the gentleman was ready to move on to a new built Top Sportsman class 67 Nova. Big name shop build. He ran this in bracket competition at a small 1/8 mile track in So Florida. He was ready to go faster (a lot faster) and ready to make room for his new ride. A little while back he hurt the motor and replaced it with the new one and also replaced everything else in the driveline to bring it back to new so he could sell it right. Nicest no BS guy you could ever talk to. I got the impression that money was not an object. I had been talking with James Golden (Redeye Racecars) about thinking that the most fun ride in drag racing is the simple BBC/Glide/Big Tire cars that never spin and just get down the track every time. Prep/no prep… doesn’t matter. When he saw this, he called me at 3am. If it wasn’t for him.. I wouldn’t have it. That’s why (even though he didn’t do any work on it) he’s got that big ass sticker on the window 👊
