Yes. My Hellcat ran 5.2 on a 8.2 quarter. This thing is set up for 1/8 with a 5.13 gear. I’ll be going to a 4.56 for the quarter so in good air maybe see high 7’s.
Just got the build sheet and dyno numbers. The corrected numbers are what we’ll be seeing in the cool winter air out at Bakersfield CA in December. This was done in the south Florida summer stuff that replaces the air down there.
Getting the truck ready for SCSN at Vegas in two weeks. The thing was set up for 1/8 mi and we don’t have any tracks out here anymore that do that. There are no big tire classes that run the 1/8th that I could be competitive in so changing the rear gear is a necessity. The Wallace calculator says that 165 mph with a 33.5 tire needs a 4.29 gear to keep the rpm below 7500. So out came the 5.14’s. Because nothing EVER goes as planned…. It was a 28 spline pinion 🤨. My new 4.29 is a 35 spline (as it should be) so that required replacing the whole pinion support including a new yoke. All done now and as strong as a 9” gets 👊. Back home and ready to go 😎
A brief rundown on my time at the track…. Rain 😑 I was delayed getting loaded because it was raining at my house and by the time I got to the track and setup and through tech it was the end of the day for me. Next day rained and by the time it cleared up they didn’t have time for anymore testing/qualifying. I was going into first round without any passes in the thing. I was allowed to run off a 8.50 number. I had to decide whether I was going to just hammer down off the transbrake and see what happens or be a little more conservative and foot brake it. That’s what I did and it didn’t like it. I didn’t know how much I could push the converter so I ended up a little low on the rpm and it bogged. After what seemed like a minute, it took off. At that point my big question was answered…. It went straight. Whew! The numbers…. Sixty ft was a 1.6 😬 Managed to claw back a 5.4 1/8mi at 132 mph. I wasn’t going to catch my opponent so my conservative side reacted and I shut it off at the 1/8. Coasted to the 1/4 in 9.2 at 116 mph. Long weekend to get one pass but it answered the unknowns, so I’ll be ready for Bakersfield (Famoso) in three weeks. It felt good to be looking out of my helmet again 😎
