Wow Eight years ago Dodge made an announcement that lit up the whole automotive world. The announcement was so exciting it created the biggest modern day buzz that brought all of us here as one. The announcement of the Dodge Challenger Hellcat was a huge surprise that created a spark of interest worldwide. And it started rhe HP wars never seen in our lifetime. I personally as well as others was blown away I could buy a factory 707 Challenger. The biggest challenge at the time was placing an order and actually getting one. In fact that was such a huge problem the Government intervened due to all the complaints being filed by frustrated consumers not being able to get one. The sale price was affordable to the common msn and the everyday driving was practical as well. The chatter among us and so many was non stop on the excitement of being part of a community with the baddest ass production car in our lifetimes. Dodge couldn’t build them fast enough and people started paying crazy prices for them. The Hellcat truly opened the door back up to street legal fun and track oriented excitement which made it possible to enjoy both in one car. The Hellcat earned more respect for Dodge than ever before and was sought after by even the rich of the rich here and abroad. The Saudis elite and Kuwait elitist were one of many clamoring for this vehicle never seen here stateside of an American automobile. The car community grew even more from the Hellcat being the top dog performance bang for the buck. The Hellcat created a lot of excitement that forced other manufacturers to raise the bar to compete which just made Dodge raise the bar even more. Wow the Demon announcement was even bigger than the Hellcat announcement which gave her even more recognition. Only a select few were built and purchased which created even more people wanting one than could have one. The crazy pricing started and to this day still is happening. The Demon created the opportunity for the next big reveal the Redeye Wide Body using the Demon motor detuned. The list of options on packages grew as well and more models in the Chsllenger line like the SuperStock. The Charger Hellcat wax always right behind the Challenger in options and packages as well but didn’t get the crown of attention like the retro Challenger. Yes I could go on and on how the Hellcat created so many options for the Challenger SRT non Hellcat motor options but will stop here and talk about the present times.

Wow now the Sadness upon us not seen in 8 years as we witness Stellantis move away from the Ice Age era to the Electric Age. Yes anyone following Tim K
reveal the future for the Dodger brand will be taking back on betond believable. You as me are sitting there thinking is this really Tim K? I mean wow, here is a guy who represents the Dodge SRT brand revealing what look like Ford Escorts😳 and this is the future and be so excited🙃. The first video release of Tim showing the end of the Ice Age Hellcat was disappointing in itself but holy crap to watch the next video and see Tim K. trying to be excited about a Ford Escort wad border line throw up material. And to add insult to injury here is our guy Tim K being forced by the Rainbow management to use him as the new brand ambassador😳. This was truly a sad moment in all my years to witness how the Woke Stellantis group has been sold out to the European flair and Green Agenda. Tim K. has now been used, abused and confused to think he’s going to change the Ice age Motörhead’s to become the EV followers lead by Stellantis. Which in the end as so many here know they are not going to be the loyalist to Stellantis changing the passion that brought us here together as one. And Stellantis now wants to separate us to none being owners of a brand no one here will recognize anymore. The Hellcat ruined it for so many has been my saying for so many years. And yes the Hellcat has ruined it for Stellantis that has lost its loyal base to an agenda over the true passions of whst made the Hellcat what it is the Ice Age.

The problem isn't Dodge it is the push to go electric to save the environment:unsure:
The other 2 will follow and already been using electric cars for years. Think of what happened in the early '70s and how they killed off the muscle then, we have seen this before.
I would have thought Stellantis would have enough gas mileage/electric cars elsewhere to keep going with Dodge the way it is. Sad they just want to cut the cord and move on. I could see is this was chevy being no ones wants a camaro but the Challenger/Charger are huge sellers

So what are they putting the 500hp turbo engine in, just trucks?

Well put CC. I’m not a person who gets emotional about non-living entities but from the first badass Mopar I bought before enlisting in early 60s to the new challenger WB hellcat I bought last year I never contemplated an end to the ICE age. Truly a sad era in our lives

Just imagine how upset/disconnected those of us who own Hellcats feel? ;)

How many Ford Lightnings do you have on order?

As much as Dylan Thomas would applaud your "Rage, rage against the dying of the light", as Dodge has done these past eight years, in the end EV vehicles, like the death Thomas writes of in his poem, are inevitable.

It may take a few generations of EV vehicles, but as the Tesla has shown with its Plaid vs Hellcats, there will be performance EV vehicles, priced (eventually) so the average joes will be able to afford.

It won't be the same, flooring a silent vehicle, as it is now with our Challengers, but the thrill of the speed and the g-force impact of acceleration will be there.

I may never buy one, but life is all about change; stagnation means death.

I feel like Tim showed up to the wrong show and or for me personally the Hornet reveal made me feel like I clicked on the wrong Video. It was so surreal as if I had gone to the wrong premier reveal for another company. The production crew in my own head I felt was like a bunch of college kids who are hell bent on the EV Revolution and Save the planet. Just total disconnect at this point for me on the whole Dodge reveal excitement.

Have 1 more coming for my employee. But if it was not for the mileage we drive everyday which is 400 plus miles between the two of us there would be no real attachment to the EV. In fact look at this video I posted yesterday😁

I did get a chuckle out of their throwback GLH references. None of the woke crowd (that seems to be their target mkt now) have any frame of reference for those labels and couldn't care less. Ditto the Hornet name itself - a nod to the Hudson Hornet of the '50's and the grocery getter AMC Hornet in the '70's ??

Add a big scoop of just plain FUGLY design, Alpha underpinnings (notoriously unreliable), complex hybrid systems and it seems to add up to big nothing burger.

If I wanted an Alpha, I'd go buy one ! At least I'd get something with the usual Alpha 'pinashe' to help offset the horrible reliability & resale value !

Definitely a swing & a miss for Dodge on this one !

They must have a bunch of stamped body parts for the alpha lying around since it didn't sell as expected.
Now they've changed the front and rear fascias and called it a Dodge so they can offload them?

Or just plain bean counter BS like what happened to GM in the late 80's - try to make just a few platforms then change out trim thinking the public will still believe they are somehow different because they have a Olds vs Chevy vs Pontiac vs Cadillac badging !

Fiat has been unsuccessfully pushing the Alpha stuff for years now in the EU, but it has earned a horrible rep. for quality & resale. The rule of thumb for buying one is to wait for it to come off lease or be 3 yrs old. That way the original sap has likely addressed the broken stuff & value has dropped to 30% (or less) of original sales price !

Can't wait to see if Tim can contain his "excitement" in the finale tonight and hear him tell me (us) again that he has been listening to his loyal gearhead customers blah, blah, blah. Anyone got a barf bag I can borrow?

Yipes - just watched the "Banshee". It's been real guys - glad we got ours - great run for sure. Dodge has lost their mind, bought entirely into the EV facade (we all know the real BEV CO2 story) and sold their soul (to Stellantis). I don't care if that thing runs 5 second quarters - not going to sit in my garage. Fabricated patented BEV Exhaust (whiny noises - wtf do batteries exhaust anyway) and psuedo multi-speed transmission.

On the positive side looks like somebody (who shall remain nameless) will finally be able to get a 2 door charger but with a soul of electrons.

10 years from now I'll be driving my Charger, kids will point at my car and ask their parents, what is that?

WTF?

It's a concept. Don't count your chickens yet.
