On various other forums it comes up quite often how polarizing black wheels are. Many people think they are "ghetto", and I'm not talking about people who simply remove the hubcaps and drive around on the black steel wheels. I get that.

But actual black rims that are on most of the FCA SRT vehicles and many other makes & models. I agree it may be a little played out as almost every manufacturer offers a real black rim package.

I went black wheels and Wilwoods 6/4 on my C5 in 2007. Back then it was rare. Now all my cars have black wheels and red calipers. It's my thing. In my hood chromies on newer vehicles is more ghetto for me.

I have to say, I’m a bit tired of black wheels. I always liked the aluminum SRT wheels that came stock on my 2010 Challenger SRT8. I tend to like the contrast between the tire and wheel. However, I really do like some of the PVD finishes being offered. They give a great “Black Chrome” appearance. I just had a set of wheels powder coated that had become scratched up and had peeling clear coat a mid-to-dark gray for my Ram Cargo Van. I thought about gloss black, but decided on the gray, to change things up. I also like the dark gray wheels on my Redeye. I guess if we only had to be concerned with minor things like wheel color, we’d have it made!

I will amend my comments to add, I DO like black wheels on white, granite and silver cars! Not so much on black, or other very dark color cars.

For me that's my favorite set up with black wheels. On white & black cars with red calipers. 👍🍻

It looks exactly like my 2016 Hellcat! Let me qualify my comments: I feel your car (and my 2016) look great! Sometimes I just get tired of one “look” and want to try something else. You did get the correct color car! Black, hard to beat it for looks. I went with Maximum Steel on my Redeye. I go back and forth, but think I would have been happier with black.
As I said in one of my previous posts, if these sort of dilemmas are the worst thing we faced, we’d have it made!

Not sure how so many people are tired of black wheels. Usually those comments are from chrome fans. Chrome to me looks so tacky and has been around FAR longer and looks so much more ghetto to me. Dgatz has literally the only decent looking chrome ive seen on a Hellcat in five years. What are the other options? White = ew. Red = barf. Silver = eh. Charcoal or gunmetal have been around on every car ever made for the last fifty years. Even hubcaps are those colors.
I prefer the black all day because it's more understated and isnt screaming “Hey look at me! I need attention!”, pretty much the anti-ghetto, and honestly it's been around for a lot less time than people make it out to be.

Wheel color just like vehicle color goes through phases of popularity. Black wheels have been popular for a while now so it's not surprising that some people are starting to get tired of seeing them. That being said, I just had my BC Forged wheels powder coated gloss black last week.

My username actually goes back to 1999. I bought a new 1999 Camaro SS that was black with 5% window tint. It was blacked out. Chrome factory wheels though.

I’ll go down saying I can not stand black wheels , and not because they’re trendy. I don’t like the fact that in order to see the wheel, well, you just can’t see the wheel. Why spend money on wheels no one can see and then , night time forget it , it’s just a black hole ....... yup , don’t like em and never will ....

Cars With black wheels just make me want to 🤢,I like my wheels they look so much better then y’all , as you can see mine has the performance coating on them , hands down looks so much better then the black wheels
