I got to play with a new horse car today. I get pissed when I hit the Rev limiter and my ear tells me I should have another 1k worth of engine left. I know I would need a tuner to raise my redline. So I guess what I'm asking is what's the Readline?

Not for real, at least in mine, I get an ignition cut at 6200.

After I had my 6.1 with the Magnuson tuned by AJ he set it at 6200 to be safe with that motor. I used to bounce off it constantly with the M6 until I got used to it. It felt like the motor was topped out at 5500 and I was short shifting, esp. after my big block Chevy would go over 7 and I would shift at least 66-6800. The hemi's def need a little more spin to feel snappy imo.

If you want them to sing you have to give them a valvetrain that can handle it.

Mine is tuned to shift right at 6500 , but that can change depending on ambient temp / DA , when DA is real low its making more power & will shift a little sooner vs. when its high DA , there's a lot of parameters that goes into what is going on & the shift points.

A good set of rods and pistons will definitely help too.

I thought the question was max safe revs.

I’ll take Speedy’s word since RPM contributed to his engine replacement.

A lot of information says weak rods were also a major contributor to the failure, but I won't be shifting mine much higher even on the RE motor.

Agreed , 6500rpm should be max on stock block.

Doesn't the Demon/Redeye have a different valvetrain that gets an extra 500 rpm on their stock tunes? They do have different red-hatched areas on their tachometers.

I got my numbers from looking at Tuning software for hellcats, redeye's, and demons . I'm basing it on that . Plus the logs I looked at . Yes I did see their "redline" is a bit higher on the tech then a hellcat .

I've got my Redeye set at 6450 and that's worked out real well for the last 10,000 miles...
