Dealership Not Taking Appointments - lack of workers says service manager

I'm glad you and Illegaldemon brought up labor unions. I want to push back, like Illegal, that unions today are not more powerful than they were in 1971. I haven't looked into the emergence of police and firefighter unions, but I do know that FDR, while supporting unions in general, did not...

Dealership Not Taking Appointments - lack of workers says service manager

Magnified and All, The steady good paying jobs in manufacturing that Americans enjoyed beginning in WW II, and for almost three decades afterwards, I see as a historical abnormality that is in a protracted correction mode. From 1941 to about 1975 our companies sold goods and services to a...

Dealership Not Taking Appointments - lack of workers says service manager

So historically the decision to not work results in poverty. Once that reality is reestablished people are going to sober up. I heard one comic do a routine about how many younger people have been raised in relative luxury, and as a result think about their own recreational desires ahead of...

Dealership Not Taking Appointments - lack of workers says service manager

I won't get into which dealership told me about their labor shortage, but in two years they are on their third service manager. They told me a few months ago they didn't have an SRT-certified mechanic after their last one left. Maybe the top management is at fault. One would think a...

Dealership Not Taking Appointments - lack of workers says service manager

Lots of good comments besides yours, but I wanted to say I heard a radio commentator say that a $15/hour job is comparable to the unemployment, plus stimulus, income...but the government assistance isn't taxed. So a net gain for opting for unemployment, he said. Governments relaxed the...

Dealership Not Taking Appointments - lack of workers says service manager

Yep, called to get a brake fluid flush last week and told they aren't taking appointments. He said for "lack of workers" Assistance service manager said they do drop-offs and will get to the car in order of drop-off. Will "probably" get to it the same day. So, I went there at 0630 to be...

    Catch Can; how is yours?

A fair question. I posted the quote from an article about the SRT filter having a stronger casing and, supposedly, less likelihood of oil bypassing the filter. I guess the same answer I've gotten from people involved in the home building business could apply to the stock filter - it all comes...

    Catch Can; how is yours?

Sorry about the table formatting and all of this being displayed as a single post from DGatzby. Dunno why it does that sometimes...

    Catch Can; how is yours?

Oh, sorry, no, not mistaking coolant for oil temperature - thx.

    Catch Can; how is yours?

Yes, running hard for 30 minute sessions, OAT never higher than 75. I call up the performance pages APP on the UConnect screen and have oil pressure and oil temperature displayed on the track. At NCM on May 29/30th I was WOT for 5-6 seconds three times on the long straights every lap, with...

    Catch Can; how is yours?

It ran at or below 233 during the four days of HPDE, mid and the end of May. The OAT never was higher than 75. It's the original coolant, which the manual is very clear about not deviating from. It's OAT coolant (conforming to MS.90032). Organic Additive Technology (OAT), whatever that is...

    Catch Can; how is yours?

Traxmoe, I hadn't heard, or thought, about engine hours as criteria for track cars, but it makes sense. It worked out to something like 20 hours of engine run time for that total mileage. I based that on my "about half" of the 1,442 miles being 8 hours of track time at an average of 85 mph -...

    Catch Can; how is yours?

Satisfying the six month warranty requirement no matter how many miles... I drove 1,442 miles between oil changes right at the six month point, of which about half was on road courses with lots of hard acceleration and some WOT on the long straights, and half highway and country road easy...

    Road Course Videos

The maker of the video mentioned that Chevrolet's warranty covers closed track mechanical issues. That's a selling point right there - being up front about it.

    Power stop brake squeal

"Firstly, don't use a "street" pad to race at this level! The CoF for this pad in this scenario was nothing short of horrendous." I have stated my appreciation for the shared expertise on this forum before, but you stressing this caution is a service to people who haven't gotten the word about...

We shall call you "Hawk, The Destroyer". Of brake pad paint!

    Power stop brake squeal

Fascinating video of the test, Bull. So that replicated a lap at BIR (more or less - understand not to read too much into it). I saw another test of brake pads on YouTube a while back, but it didn't look as hellish as this one! One of my potential takeaways (chime in, anyone) from watching...

    Power stop brake squeal

That is what has happened - crinkled and flaky paint. The pads themselves don't look too worn after my 4 hours of track use last weekend. I must not be braking hard enough, but at least I cooked the paint.

    Power stop brake squeal

DGatzby mentioned you did stuff with brake pads, a la Track Day data. These Hawks are my first set. The Bembros didn't have anything on the back plate blister up and I think I ran them as hard. If it's normal I'll just clean them up and reinstall them. Appreciate your response, Bull.
