Sorry, this has probably been gone over no doubt but I can't find anything, plus i looked but am not sure where exactly to post this... 2019 redeye with HK, music is on a USB drive and I see no way to get it into the vehicle system, or create a playlist.. I can look for a playlist which there are none, but no provision that i can find to move the music off the USB and create one. Thanks for any ideas. The 8 and 10 year olds across the street are not available to help, so I am dead in the water.....thanks for any advice.

Yo @Indigo Joe! Can you just plug the USB into the port that is inside the center console?

Hey @EricG , Hope all is well, long time no talk..yes that's how i listen to music but if i forget to pull the stick it gets warm, I want to load the music and pull the stick and leave it out. I was able to pair my laptop with the car, amazingly, using blue tooth and it said i could not transfer a folder, so i tried to send individual songs and if errored out again. So I am up against the ropes for the time being

I've seen nothing that leads me to believe Uconnect 'downloads' your USB. It does seem to make/retain some sort of 'index' of the metadata to facilitate the built in play functions (i.e. by artist, album, genre etc.), but not the actual music files themselves.

If you want a play list, you need to roll your own on the USB by making a file folder (Joes Tunes) and copying the tunes you want into it, then selecting it via the Uconnect controls.

Seems odd the USB gets hot, mine seems OK & I leave it plugged in all the time.

Thanks @MikeD1, well this is surprising because in my 09 SRT I could move music into the radio via USB and save as a playlist no problem. I don't want to leave a stick plugged into the console and get banged around potentially... It really doesn't get hot, just warm, but I am pretty sure that port is hot all the time with key off similar to some laptops I have had.
Thanks

My '08 & '09 Infiniti's did it as well, they called the feature Musicbox. It was also 'record' a CD as you played it & store it.
Not sure why it went away, guessing some copyright legal BS ??

So when I poke around on the screen and see "playlists" , how in the ____ would I create one to begin with is what I am getting at. That's where I am spinning my wheels against the wall. I am not really astute at this so forgive my lack of.it being able to rapidly soak it in, I am somewhat technical but not at all with media issues. I will try to take a screen shot of what I am looking at when I get back to the car.

This may help, skip the 1st 3 min. where he talks about formatting the USB since you have already done that.

Personally I think it's a lot of bother and since I have tons of room on my USB, I did the folder thing & just copied the files.

Thanks for that @MikeD1 , I watched the vid and appreciate you sending it and getting me more up to speed, but what a cluster that is when in the older days you just plug the usb in then send the files.to the vehicle. That's what I can't get over. I can see your point now about just use a USB to listen from but it still does not make any sense to me why it has been made so difficult to accomplish a formerly minor task. I see blue tooth on the screen as well and appears to be just as miserable to use to try to copy music files to the UCONNECT . Oh well.
