Just out of PRI yesterday…. The NHRA has made a rule change announcement that 2014 and later cars will not need to have the required 8.5 cert cage until 9.0 seconds and/or 150 mph. The current rule has been 10.0 (9.99) and over 135 mph. So I assume the the new et requirement will be 8.99 and 150 or faster. This came from reliable sources at PRI. There has not been a official press release from the NHRA so far but more than one source is confirming. I’m assuming that there are airbag requirements and other stuff and I did not hear anything about the currently required Competition License.
Interesting. So there is data behind this? Or did everyone just bitch and moan enough that NHRA gave in?

I let HP Tuners know about my anger about how they shaft every iPhone user.
I'm sure they'll get right on it. :)

The Christmas lights were real fun when more than 1 bulb was out.
A good way to keep us kids busy for awhile.:ROFLMAO:
Don't squeeze that bulb too hard now

Check with HP about the iPhone deal. A friend of mine just got one that works with his iPhone.

I have the 2022 NHRA rulebook in my hot little hand right now.
The Street Legal Rules that our cars fall into have not been revised as of this writing.
Same, 2008 and up cars can run 10 flat and up to 135 MPH.
DOT tires front and rear.
License plates, reg., and current ins. must be present.
All factory safety devices must be in place and unaltered.

The guy that runs the Tesla Plaid channel mentioned the rule revision is coming but nothing in writing that I have found.

If NHRA does revise the rules that allow us to run down to 9 flat and 150 MPH, I'll be adding a flex fuel tune and pulley to the new Super Stock.

Could have been a change after the books were done (which was probably months ago) but until something official comes out it is just a rumor. If it is true I wonder what changed after the books were written?

I went searching and only thing I can find is it was announced at PRI. There have been amendments added as of 12-16 but nothing on the rollbar

I suspect it's because the electric cars, newer Corvettes, and the Dodge line up are so fast that NHRA had to do something so cars like the Plaid can legally
make laps.

Mike is right. But they need to be aware if they go up and there are a spate of accidents and deaths, it could cause.problems.

Half of the strand was out this year, right in the middle of the tree. Of course I didn’t test them.
so I just took another strand and wrapped it around the middle… good as new. Moving bulbs around didn’t help.
Damn..that reminds me..I gotta start my Christmas shoppin tmro...:rolleyes:

Hahaha. Nice!

BTW - last night another section of the original strand went out, so the top of the tree went dark. I won’t say anything and see if the family notices. The nice thing is, they can stay on the tree when I throw it out.

In houston for series of cardiac doc visits on monday and Tuesday. Foot still healing up. Staying w an english couple who rent out the lower floor of their home. Great location, known them for years, they had a tree set up downstairs w presents for the kids under it and the wife made me a cherry.pie. she's a professional chef and I appreciate her remembering my favorite. The husband is an older guy like me and he wrapped the tree in the front yard and the rain has knocked it out twice and boy is he pissed. Lol

At ho.e we have lighted poinsettias in front of the new house and other decorations inside. I have a 15 foot Rudolph and 12 foot clarice too but w foot out of commission they were not put up this year.

See yall

The latest I just saw on the rules change is now…. No cage required down to 9.0 and up to 145 mph. The year is now being newer than 2008. All factory safety equipment (airbags, seatbelts, antilock, etc) must be functioning and will be part of the NHRA tech inspection. The NHRA competition license, SFI -5 suit, neck device, current SA helmet, etc. must be used, just like all 9.99 and faster are required. In the update I saw….. there was no mention of stuff like bell housing/trans shield, battery disconnect or any of the other NHRA requirements for sub 10 cars.

Might need to order that Super Stock with that Mopar power kit now.

I want to be in the low 9s with a daily driver and no cage

That says IHRA, not NHRA. Is there a new addendum published?

Typically in the past, the IHRA followed the NHRA in rule changes.

My local track is IHRA I was wondering how long it'd take. good news not long. Does look like they want a license which I figured. I wonder if they will push the Licenses harder now

UGH...license, new helmet, and driving suit. Just like the old days when I had both the A and B licenses.
At least there is no physical required any more or an EKG if you are over 55 YO.

I'm going to think on this. !0 flat and 135 might be my personal cut off.

If I'm reading this correctly, the rule updates still restrict us to just running NHRA Street Legal events. No brackets or specialty races allowed.
