Hopefully in the 2-day curriculum you still get open track time on the large road track - that was kind of the cherry on the sundae for us in the 3-day class. I vividly recall the instructor saying keep an eye on oil temperature, and if it reaches 270, come in for a few minute cooldown :eek: and go back out. I was one of the only cars to reach it (272) and pause for a few, unless others didn't notice or care. It was so much fun beating the shyt out of someone else's car, but also was impressed how stout they are and can take a lot of hard running.

Yeah when I was there I got to chat with the techs and of course I wanted all the nitty gritty on what maintenance looked like. Apparently the front toe link (I think that's the name) was the only part that seems to give trouble. They said everything else had been flawless. They do run the cars in 500HP mode though, at least with us. I checked ;)

Good point on the red vs black keys - I cannot recall what mode we were running in, and don't remember even seeing the key (must have had it in the console or glove box?). I only had my own car for about 6 months when I attended the school, and honestly had not done hardly any familiarizing myself with all the techno stuff before my class :-(. I do know I was able to get my class car up to 117 on the straightaway of the large track that runs parallel with Maricopa Rd. before having to slow for the next turn.

I went in November 2019 when it was still Bondurant. I had the 1-day that came with the purchase of my Redeye, but I bumped it to the 2-day course. I regret not doing the 3-day course. The 3rd day would have been in the Formula Mazdas.

I just got a certificate from Radford for the 2 day course. It was a perk from doing that Chief Donut Maker thing. I was weighing the cost of flights/hotel/car to see if it was worth doing but sounds like I need to seriously consider it based on some who've attended?
I did it when Bondurant and it was awesome! Highly recommend!

I went in July for a 30% discount IIRC. The first day I was using 2nd and 3rd gear on the course.
The coolant hit about 240F without me watching it until I got a warning on the dash. I mentioned it to the instructor and he recommended I try to just use 3rd gear to help keep the engine revs lower. I still got over 235, now with the gauge up on the center display, so they swapped me to another car that ran at least 10F cooler.
My 2nd issue was with the Power stop Track Day pads. Even on this short course I could over temp them after the straight leading into the chicane. They completely changed my brakes and rotors and fluid at lunch and it was no real help. I just had to take it easy on braking for that turn. I was wishing for some Hawk DTC70 pads.
I don't think they want you to really time attack these cars and of course you don't have to, to get a lot of benefit from the class.
It was my first experience on a track that made me feel like a pro racer. If something was wrong I got a backup car or a pit crew that just did all the work for me. Made me think . . .

It made me think a lot more about just doing more arrive and drive events and keeping my life simpler. My son is faster than me as he should be so the focus is on getting him a start in racing. For me now, it's just about having fun and terrorizing cars out there that are supposed to be so much faster than ours.

It was 95-98 degrees, 73 degree dew point at BIR last Monday. That Redeye was worthless. It would hit 290+ then I would coast for 2-3 laps and it maybe would let me do another one lap but not two before heading for 290 again. You want to feel hiccups, hear no supercharger whine, and never pass anyone? That was my day. So tell me how that goes in Arizona IF they have the HO engine. My Hellcat NEVER acted this way.
