all of those cars were great, and favorites of mine, some of them I had not thought of in DECADES... My built up 66 Mustang was pretty stout in its day and I loved that. One that I was quite enamored of in the 80s was Gale Banks' series of Firebirds (and Camaros if you wanted to) with the twin turbo big blocks pushing ~800 - 1000 HP and easily 200+ mph. At that time, that was just mind boggling. LOL, the 900 HP in '78 from the twin-T 301 ci just floored me.

Another 80s animal that hooked me (for its looks more than anything else) was the Ferrari 288 GTO. Just a magnificent looking car. Excluding the Banks cars, the pedestrian 2017 Charger HC I have now smokes most of these oldies but goodies and does it with a heck of a lot more refinery on the inside and reliablity. We've come a long way. Though Banks is putting out "Revival" twin turbos and I'd love to have that engine to do with as I pleased.

When I was 12 to 14, it was a 65 red mustang.
14 to 16, it was an orange Chevelle SS.
16 on, the Challenger, Grey and Red.

Oh, and I'd be remiss to forget my late Uncle Barker's E-type Jag. First car that taught me as a little boy that cars are meant to be beautiful! 20191023_011806.jpg

For me it was '55-'57 Chevy's. Whole life. Just thought they were fantastic looking, and they work stock or hot rodded correctly. Had my last '57 for 26yrs. Sold it for the '09 SRT now. Do I have buyers remorse. Nope. Even if I get rid of this SRT I'll prob stay with modern Iron. It's funny, I met a guy at his house who has a beautiful red scat pack shaker. He also had a completely restored RS/SS '69 Camaro, orange with white stripes in his garage. He said "ya know the more I drive my Challenger, the less I like my Camaro".

You all are too young for me, I guess since most everything you all dreamed about was after I was driving, etc. That's what I get for being almost 74 yrs old. My dream car when young was the MB 300SL Gullwing or Jaguar XKE.

when I was in fourth grade...every Friday a girl in my class would get picked up by her father ...he drove a new 1962 corvette convertible...fawn beige with a white rag top..and fawn interior...still my dream car...
AND... to this day, you can remember how sweet that 62 vette looked down to color and curves... but, that girl... not so much...

Likely a junk yard dog by now...

I had several over the years but probably dreamt about a 57 Chevy longer than any other when I was growing up. Then around 1965, it was the tri-power GTO. Then my fantasy became a 67 Hemi Coronet R/T. My first car was a new 69 383 4 speed RoadRunner when I was 20 but I did then and still dream today about owning and racing a real 68 or 69 Hemi super stocker. There were also many dreams about an L-88 or a LT-1 Corvette here and there but never swayed from Mopars since 1969. LOL:rolleyes:
Oh my.... I was lucky enough to have two of those cars in life as a very young kid. Parents once owned a 57 Chevy and a 64 GTO. Both were eventually traded in on other cars none of which were classics. We got the 64 GTO from my uncle when he purchased a 67 Vette. He was really in to the cars. He only held on to the 67 Vette for a year or two because he said that it drove like a tank. Big mistake.

While too young, I had an early interest in drag racing and fell in love with the '63 / '64 Dodge Ramchargers and Plymouth Golden Commandos Max Wedge and Hemi cars. They hooked me on Mopars. Once Chrysler built the '68 Barracuda / Dart Hemi Super Stock cars, there has never been anything better on my radar. Equal however, is the Red Eye that is sitting in my garage. :)

What was your fantasy car ?
I was out in the shop today and came across some old car posters I had collected in the eighties and it got me wondering - what was your fantasy car growing up? For an all out (money is no issue) it was the Lamborghini Countach - I had the Apline stereo poster. As a real world car (one I could maybe afford) I always wanted an AAR Cuda - just a bad ass 340-6 barrel with a 4 speed.

Dreams:
Countach
Superbird

Reality:
'73 Roadrunner

Growing up in London in the 60’s driving a 39hp Ford Anglia I could walk to the track at Crystal Palace. And then the Ford Galaxies showed up😱👍😱.

39hp to 797hp - what a ride!!

OK... don't laugh too hard... but, my first ride was this... I think it had about 86hp... with pedals and rubber band available for eco mode.

Styling queues off the charts. TV box on top of a refrigerator box.

Hard to believe that I have 797hp available under my right foot now. Amazing.

Years ago my fantasy car was a Lamborghini Countach. I can afford to buy one now and have no interest. Amazing how things change when you get older.
