It could catch on fire, burn down your house and possibly kill you.
Like living in Chicago, Portland, LA, SF or NYC. No big deal...

Okay, spare me from watching the video, please.

What are the recalls for (the numbers will do, those are easy to look up), and are they for gas or diesel pickups?

I don't remember the recalls. I have a diesel.

Okay, looks like it's grid heater relay related then.

Just unhook the positive cable, at the battery, that feeds the relay and zip tie it to the coolant reservoir. Done.
Some of them can set a code, but generally it doesn't happen if you just start the engine without waiting for the heating cycle to finish.

If you have the fancy push start button, push it twice to make the engine start instantly.

Will your pickup still start in Florida? Probably. I disconnected the grid heater on mine several years ago, it starts right up, and still haven't got a single code. Of course, so far it hasn't been at below -10.

Okay, went back and looked at your older posts.

So the other issue is the trans, right? If so, go to the parts store and buy a locking dipstick that fits the tube.
No, it won't be the correct length, but neither is the one the dealer would eventually give you.

They're fixing the other recalls.

They looked at the grid heater before, said that it was good and there was nothing more that needed to be done.

So now they're saying that isn't the case.

I'm not touching shit. They'll look for any reason to deny warranty coverage as it is and the problems that this truck has had...

Service writer called and they're "hoping" to have the transmission fixed by late tomorrow.

Your pickup body, your choice.

When I sold my '14 1500 it had about a dozen active recalls, ranging from air bags to that the the gas tank could fall off.
Never did anything about any of them and it still ran just fine.

My 3500 doesn't have quite as many, but two of them I did take care of. First was the water pump, which could also cause a fire. To me, having the pump (and belt) go out when 1,000+ miles from home would be inconvenient.

Bought a pump and belt and installed them in the comfort of the garage. Done. Cost me about $100, and not having to subject the vehicle to a dealer's service department was priceless.

Then came the draglink recall. Like with the water pumps, parts were hard to come by, but ordered a new style draglink from my dealer. That was another $100 and change.

Of course, years later I have yet to install that new one, since the original draglink shows no signs of coming apart. Either way, for a couple hundred bucks I've been able to spare the vehicles (and myself) from dealer visits. Well worth it.

Not my truck. It's leased. I'm ready for it to just go away at this point. My life needs to simplify.

Agree. Fewer doors, fewer problems.

Fewer vehicles, toys and a smaller house.

Good point. Smaller houses don't have as many doors.

I'm sure that you removed all of the doors in your house.

No, all six are still there, plus a couple of sliders, but obviously we only use two of them.

Hey, I bought this place used, so it's not my fault that there's several doors too many on a 1-bedroom house.

Very simple.

Take them down.

It's not that simple. They don't go up and down, they're side hinged.
