Lol! Good point! IS it rational to buy a Challenger?
People have favorably commented on the Plum Crazy Purple color. I say I got it because "you have to be plum crazy to buy this car!"
Replying to my own post... I just got back from Putnam Park Road Course southeast of Indianapolis last night. My first time there - liked it a lot. Shorter around than NCM - a really good time is 1 minute, 20 seconds I was told. I don't have a lap timer app for my iPhone so no idea what my lap...
Hello All,
I learned a long time ago as a young naval officer there are the Twin Taboos. Politics and Religion. You can take a group of talented people who share common interests (cars, winning sea battles, etc.) and who have a high regard for each other and turn them into enemies overnight...
I particularly liked where you passed the red Mustang at 5:30 and then how you took two turns at what looked to me like maximum cornering speed - leading to the grandstand straightaway! Great stuff!
All,
This is a great thread centered around improving the Challenger's handling and cornering, with emphasis on fully harnessing the power of our cars by improving rear wheel traction. I sure have learned a lot from this thread, and from DGatzby's generous and detailed answers to technical...
Five Guys for a manly meal before a personal best lap time challenge! To settle one's stomach and fuel one's adrenaline.
If they'd had Five Guys on the aircraft carrier no doubt the preferred meal of every fighter pilot before a dawn launch.
Really looking forward to your videos and damn glad...
A new set, and a spare set. This road race stuff is not easy on the pocket.
Okay...alrighty then...sounds like I'll need a mobile garage. I know 10/10th's Motorsports has some verbiage about "enthusiasts helping other enthusiasts" (words to that effect). I saw a tire vendor at NCM's track...
Thanks, DGatzby. Real good information. Great advice to test out the car's brake pads before going on the track. I'll get some Hawk pads ordered (where did you just buy yours?) - they sound great. Interesting on car brake rotor cleaning operation video - fire in the hole!
Here is an old...
I was reading an article on brake pads and "do you always have to turn rotors" and, as usual, there are differing opinions with shops at least always wanting to do it for liability purposes, and DIY's saying not necessary if the rotors are undamaged and in pretty smooth shape. One point made...
Sad,
Thanks for the information. I will definitely incorporate it into my HPDE driving. I've got 2 two day weekends coming up in early and mid-October. I've got new wheels and Cup 2's coming, hopefully in time for my first HPDE at the National Corvette Museum's track.
I was given the book...
Lol! I wasn't calling you an interior designer (not that there is anything wrong with that!). I have always thought of engineers as akin to architects, but instead of designing houses they design stuff like dams, bridges, freeways and mechanical things.
I didn't see the cheaper kit. Makes...
DGatzby,
Looks like it is a precision tool. Has a carrying case! I bet that will handily fit in the Challenger's trunk.
When you're done designing hydro-electic dams maybe you can buzz around the Midwest with it to various HPDE events - rent a garage and hang out a shingle that reads...
Truly the lines of the 70' Barracuda captured the muscular nature of its engine. What a great job by Herlitz to be able to sculpt a new car whose design still elicits admiration 50 years later. Our modern Challengers...in many respects almost the same pretty lines. Poetry in motion!
All,
I want to shout out a big THANK YOU to DGatzby. He has been a great resource for me in learning about suspension mods and how I might improve the handling of my 2019 Hellcat Redeye (we have the same Challengers, mine PC Purple), both by posting his findings and videos here in our forum...
