Good progress starting to look like an engine bay coolant system and oil systems are sealed. Waiting on new map sensor and a dome sensor. Then I can plumb the turbos, write a config to Holley and get ‘r done.

Nope. That hooks on there and thats it. Im tired of breathing in aluminum.
Good thing you dont live in an old trailer park....nothing like the smell of aluminum first thing in the morning...:giggle::giggle::giggle::(

The things they never mention in the instruction manuals. Man building a turbo car does have a learning curve 🤣😭

For us home gamers, don’t do turbos. Just stay supercharged. Im over this shit. The last 10% takes 90% of your time.

Wastegates are being an absolute pita to route lines to (artifact of turbo kit), also found out the oil pan bung for the turbo drain is leaking so that needs to come off (Pissed off at Mike for that one as he gave me his old pan), still a ton of wiring left and I haven't even started the car yet. Still have to test fuel system. I've been at this shit for every evening for a month and I'm just tired.

I'm still scared as shit to start it as this is my first ever engine not to mention the shop is slammed so I can't even get a lift right now. Oh I also need to remove the abs module, too much shit is in the way. It's just a lot, overwhelmed. Hindsight is 20/20, stay supercharged my friends. Turbos or DIY turbos ain't it on these platforms.

Welcome to my world! Last year there was a time where for 3 or 4 months straight I was ordering parts every day, getting deliveries every day to build out my green Charger. It was from the time I woke up to the time I slept, go go go, non-stop. If you have the will, you'll find a way. There was never not something to do, something to put together, something to fabricate, something to wire, something to program, something to design and prototype and send cad files off to have custom parts made. If I got stuck on something that needed an order, I'd place that order and move on to the next item on the list. Sometimes I'd get a part a week later and I'm like, what did I order this for? That happened a lot especially when some parts would sit for longer than a week after delivery. What sucked more is when I double or triple ordered something because I forgot I ordered something already, lol...

You're probably going to find more leaks that'll need to be addressed once you do start it up. That's to be expected as is other little issues. It's pretty rare that everything goes right. Build that into your expectations and timelines and you'll be a lot less frustrated when it happens. Because, it's going to happen. It actually took me a while to address every leak on the car after I finally did get it up and running. Bad or damaged fittings were mainly my issue. In one case, I just forgot to tighten a line on the transmission. What an oily mess that was.

It didn't help that I'd constantly have to head back to my desk to work. The back and forth and multitude of distractions made it super stressful trying to get my new race car built and running before year end last year.

Now I'm working at a more relaxed pace. I no longer have a never ending list of "must do" tasks, lots of "would be nice". I'm still out there working on either car every day but it's not nearly as stressful as it was at first.

Hang in there, what you're going through is part of the experience. It can be enjoyable, if you let it. It's enjoyable for me because it gives me purpose.

Here’s another tip. The trans vent line to catch needs to go up only or down only, but not down than up. I had routed mine to the back of the car in a way that it would come down from the top of the transmission, ran along the underside, then came back up to my catch tank in the back.

With the car sitting, the line air locked and trans fluid would seep out of the bottom of my filler tube instead.

Once I rerouted the line to no longer dip down before going back up, no more issue.

If you haven’t done it… you could never know how much time it takes. At some point an attitude adjustment is required. I’ve been living this long enough now that I told somebody the other day that I now accept that it will never run. Just so if it does it will be a pleasant surprise. I’m just doing it for the fun of the challenge 🤓. The latest SNAFU is we get the engine block machined and start weighing the rotating assembly to get everything balanced. Start on the wrist pins and…. WTF. Out of the ten pins…. Eight are wrong. Not what was ordered. To make it worse, they’ve all been coated. Who’s f-up is this ! Carrillo or the coater’s who mixed them up and sent us somebody else’s pins? Now we’re on another month delay with everything sitting out and ready for final assembly. Not to mention that nobody wants to be responsible for the $1000 mistake. Talk about turbo plumbing. Try two down where you have return oil going up hill. I’m guessing that it will need scavenge pumps to pump it after engine shutdown. Then they are water cooled turbos ! More lines and fittings. If something doesn’t leak it will be a miracle. I just hope the car don’t burn down if we ever go to start it. All the while… everyone is going what are you doing? Is that ever going to get done ? 😡 Thanks for the tip on the trans line Z. My crankcase vent lines go down and back up to the can. I have drains at the low point for those. Good to know that the trans needs to be one way 👍🏼
